375ml. A magnificent 30-year young Sauternes. Orange peel, molasses, caramel, ginger spice, and brown sugar. The intense flavors waltzed across the palate with grace and precision. Fresh, vibrant, and not as rich as expected. The finish lasts forever.
Paired with homemade chocolate chip cookies using Levain Bakery recipe and vanilla bean ice cream. — 6 years ago
Deep purple hue with some garnet. Extraction on the glass and medium-plus tearing. Nose offers black fruit, such as fresh blackberries, black cherry, and currant notes; also molasses, clove, spice, cured meat, and vegetal notes. Tartness and acidity on the palate, lending balance. Also strong tannins with anise and dusty leather notes on the palate. Vintage 2014. 15% ABV. #aalto #riberadelduero #riberadelduerowine #tintofino #spanishwine #oldworld #oakagedwine #meseta #winewednesday #winedownwednesdays — 7 years ago

What was meant to be a casual dinner with friends over homemade BLTs ended up turning into a full-blown wine dinner.

Eager to see how this develops over the years. As it stands now it’s syrupy with cloves, figs, molasses, and is pretty extracted. I think the potential is there but it’s going to take some time for it to mature and formulate. — 7 years ago
New Year 2018 night cap! 15 year old aged Guyana rum. Honey. Molasses. Vanilla. Spices. Oak. Super smooth! Pure awesomeness! — 8 years ago
This wine has a deep ruby hue with viscous tearing.
Aromas and flavors are highly expressive with notes of Luxardo black cherry, dried blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, juicy plum, violet, molasses, mocha, coconut, vanilla, clove, nutmeg, cardamom, dill, and leather.
On the palate, this wine is dry with a hint of residual sugar that has a softening effect. It has medium(+) acidity, a full body, high alcohol (15% ABV!), high tannins that are smooth and velveteen. The finish lingers.
It’s a rounded, full-bodied, and opulent expression that epitomizes the wines of Paso Robles. — 2 years ago

Still plenty of life left in this selection. Took about 30 minutes for the juice to stretch its legs but once it did everyone really enjoyed it. Medium-bodied with loads of Christmas spice cake, prunes, plums, molasses and cloves. — 7 years ago

Wow. Creme brûlée. Smoke. — 8 years ago
2018 vintage. Mint, cinnamon, molasses, spent coffee grounds, cassis and orange peel compose the bouquet. Medium body but medium/big tannins. Orange-based tea and earthy finish. Meanders in an endearing manner with just enough richness to coat and mitigate multiple astringent flavors…and ultimately…comes into focus pushing a really delicious balance. Ignore at your own peril/price point. — 5 years ago

Annual guys WTF Christmas party with spouses. Lots of great wine. I’ll post my highlights with pics I got.
A rich and decadent night cap to a wonderful evening. Raisins, dark chocolate dipped blueberries and blackberries, fig, and cassis coat the glass. Molasses like texture on the palate with licorice, oven baked blackberry pie, baking spices and a touch of heat toward the finish. — 7 years ago
