🔥 love this stuff, legit NC CF which I’ve had through the years and it is just getting better and better. Such freshness, vivid flavors: just picked cherries, florals, sweet herbaceous notes, white pepper, varietally correct. Med weight, structured but pliable tannins, juicy acidity really conveying flavors thru to impressive finish and all for $15 — 9 months ago

Nine Hats Columbia Valley Red Blend

This was an evening out in Raleigh while in town for a wedding. We had a glass of the Nine Hats Red Blend. Medium purple with a nose of blackberry jam, strawberries, vanilla, and a slight hint of sweet tobacco. Very much a fruit forward wine on the palate. Full bodied, this is a crowd pleaser. We had this by the glass at Vita Vite in Raleigh, NC. At $20 a bottle this is a great value. — 3 years ago

Sounds good, @Mike R Looking forward to connecting the next time I’m in town. I come to Raleigh 4-5 times a year. It was a busy, quick weekend. Friday - business meeting, rehearsal dinner, and high-school class reunion. Saturday - dinner with family and snuck away for a glass with the wife later that night. Sunday - wedding day. Back to Kentucky today. Taylor was a nice guy. Never knew about his wine shop just down the road from my folks house.

Despite age, this showed like current vintage: guessing Bordeaux blend, wet generous nose of red & black fruit, quite peppery, some bell pepper, cocoa, quite nice, palate was elegant, suave, well-knit, big flavors echoing nose w/sturdy integrated tannins. We find for me from NC. — 2 years ago

For under $20, never had a better CF: just gorgeous, elegant feminine expression starting w/brilliant dark ruby color - verge of opaque, generous red berried fruit w/smoky vanilla accent. Smooth luxurious on mid-palate, finely grained tannins, yet sturdy w/balance integrated acidity & tons of flavor. Modest length on finish only telltale sign of cost. Always pleased w/this NC winery. — 3 years ago

Reserve Syrah 2016

In our binary world- this is a feminine format. Pinot weight and body with East Coast fruit expression. Nice aromatics couple with punchy acidic flow. The type of plummy acid that make the mouthfeel “float” with a grace more impactful than the actual fruit. Compelling, especially with the right cuisine ;) 1 bottle remains - target 2026? 91 pt because it’s NC and relatively weighted — 3 years ago
