2017 Ravine White Springs Vineyard Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes). Nine years old and still seems youthful. Great nose of zesty Granny Smith and slightly unripe Cortland apples and lots of high-toned stony minerality. Palate is concentrated and intense, lots of crisp acid to balance the deep fruit and intense stones. This is what I think of when I think of Rioja. Dried cherry and cranberry is what I get right away, and then it has more savory/earthy notes like leather and mushroom. When I tasted it I said “it tastes old.” That is a compliment. Hints of vanilla and spice. Felt elegant with a long finish. Had it with fatty new york strips. Tannins and acidity balanced it well. Not a loud wine, but a great one. — 8 months ago

Medium-dark reddish-purple color, spicy, brambly black raspberry aromas and flavors, some underlying faint herbal notes show as well, compared to the 2023 opened alongside, younger, fresher, very fruit forward, reminds me of where the 2023 was a few years ago, a perfect pizza wine or midweek Zinfandel, kudos to Morgan, Chris and Cody!! — 18 days ago
