Another candidate in the 41 wine lineup at the Downs Club tasted blind. Unlike many of the other candidates which had ripe black fruits from 2018, this had notes of dried meat and charcuterie. Full bodied - more savoury than fruit driven. Spinifex is a boutique Barossa producer. Winemaker is the Kiwi star, Peter Schell. Very Good. — 2 years ago
Yoghurt, brambles, hot tiles, lavender, balsamic sweet and sour, youthful, seems to be searching for some balance. — 5 months ago
Wine dinner with big group including Butch neighbor Art, Philip and Bewan. Pino brought it for himself, given the Cab lineup. Another of his lively dare I say relatively light on its feet Amarone. Balanced profile, actually a good food wine. — 8 months ago

second time trying this vintage. after being able to brace myself for that signature lardot acidity, which verges on violent, i came to enjoy this a lot more. herbal stuff starts jumping out after about 45 min or so. texturally very exciting as well. miles away from classic but that's the real beauty here. — 6 months ago

Dark red purple. Classic Cabernet nose and palate of cassis and underripe blackberry with oak and very gentle bell pepper undertones. Medium tannins and medium plus-ish acidity. Old school style Napa Cabernet with an excellent balance between fruit and structure. Excellent match for that porterhouse. Drink now through 2032. — 3 months ago
