“Funky Road Medina”! Struck Match, smoky, nutty, leesy - somewhat worked. Too Lean on the palate to be a Trophy Winner for my taste. Light to medium weight palate - citrus and pink grapefruit with Medium acid. This wine was awarded the Trophy for Best Chardonnay at the Royal Queensland Wine Show about a month ago. From Margaret River but leaner than the other famous Chardonnays there like Leeuwin Estate, Heytesbury, Pierro etc. Not cheap at $100 per bottle. Will improve with bottle age. — 3 years ago
Pale Lemon in colour. More in the lean style for Margaret River as compared to the richer “peaches and cream “ style of Cuvées like Leeuwin Art Series and Pierro. The oak has been judiciously dialled back not to overwhelm the more delicate fruit profile of citrus and grapefruit. Finished off with crisp acid. Would have liked a riper fruit profile from this good vintage. Perhaps picking a little later? Tasted 29 weeks later on 1st December 2021. Developing nicely with sweet grapefruit, nectarine and pear. Xanadu still having a wonderful run on the Australian Wine Show Circuit. Tasted again on 2nd July 2022 with consistent notes. Last bottle. Great value at $30 a bottle. — 5 years ago
Xmas present, and what a nice one! Smooth and full-bodied. — 8 years ago
A great example of modern Australian Chardonnay. Winemaker David Bicknell says the Lusatia Park vineyard provides tension. Flavours are in the lime and grapefruit spectrum and a little lean for my palate preferring the more fleshy stone fruit styles of Leeuwin and Pierro. 17.5+ — 11 years ago
I unwisely drank my collection too young. This was my last of 3 bottles. Some citric tang on the nose and palate. A touch of stone fruit with notes of nectarine. Certainly has the power and acid drive to go on into the 2030s. Excellent value. Neighbours of the big gun Chardonnays like Cullen Vasse Felix and Pierro without their price tags. — 10 months ago

Pale to mid Lemon in colour. Barrel ferment characters, leesy funky, touches of butterscotch and stone fruit. Went through malolactic. Some would say “worked”. Needless to say a lot of good winemaking on show here. Palate is more citrussy than stone fruit with a balanced creaminess very persistent flavours. A lovely and well made Chardonnay by Nic Peterkin. His dad founded Pierro who make one of the best Chardonnays in Margaret River and therefore Australia. His mother, Shelley, is the daughter of Di and Kevin Cullen ie. Margaret River royalty. Only 200 cases made. — 6 years ago

On flight from Dubai to Singapore. Pierro vintage reserve Chardonnay , 2013. Nice green tints with the light lemon gold. Comes across quite restrained , oak is nicely balanced with ripe apple , citrus , maybe a touch of pineapple or passion fruit. In the mouth , ripe fruit again , apple and citrus, but also grapefruit, mineral also perhaps. Quite focused, well balanced though there is a creamy richness that makes me think that there must be a reasonable amount of alcohol, full bodied. Long finish , nicely balanced acidity but due to the richness of the wine it doesn't give real refreshment, this is serious Chardonnay however. A good , enjoyable wine though may not be able to finish more than a couple of glasses! — 9 years ago
Opened it an hour before drinking and it was extremely smooth and tasted beautiful — 10 years ago
85 Sangiovese 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet franc 1971 was the first vintage had Trebbiano and Malvasia but still did not pass the the chianti docg test pierro took over in 1966 when he was 28 years old Giacomo tachas was the winemaker and sassicaia was run by pierros uncle and they brought Cabernet Sauvignon from lafite they consulted to bring Cabernet to the chianti region specifically the tignanello vineyard 72, 73, and 74 were not made. This is a very forward and seductive released on April 1st — 11 years ago
Quite lemony, grapefruit, citrus, mineral. Nose is modern Australian Chardonnay with struck match and flint. Palate showing grapefruit, citrus and mineral and quite lean compared to other Margaret River Chardonnay icons like Leeuwin Art Series and Pierro. Minimal oak influence. Could cellar for a few more years. — 2 years ago

Best Blanc Blend I have ever drank! Taste like Riesling — 5 years ago
Leafy, tomato bush aromas - herbal- classic Cabernet descriptors from Margaret River. A sweetish blackberry note on the palate but essentially savoury with a tarry earthy note. With time in Decanter this wine improved even more - a really good medium weight Marg River Cab. Gralyn is in Wilyabrup and has illustrious neighbours like Vasse Felix, Cullen, Woodlands, Moss Wood and Pierro without their reputation as yet. They recently made this a “Museum Release “ charging $500 which is over the top. I’m glad I paid $80 at the cellar door about 10 years ago. Used to be served in Qantas Business Class back in the day when Qantas was flying internationally ✈️✈️🛫🛫 — 6 years ago
Rather soft and smooth in texture but somehow very well balanced. A very easy going wine. — 9 years ago
Pierro better known for its brilliant Chardonnay but this is quite a good Pinot Noir. Notes of burnt toffee, varnish and sappy plum notes. Lovely balanced palate with soft tannins. Good juice. 2009 vintage. — 10 years ago
Fiesty Shiraz! Worth a special occasion. — 11 years ago

This Aussie Chardonnay could easily pass for a Chablis with its freshness and minerality. Very enjoyable. — 8 months ago
