Proud Pour

Seavey Vineyard

Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

Decant and pour(lots of sediment). A stunning still dark ruby red with some bricking. On the nose: Compelling perfumed notes of stewed fruit, worn leather, wet earth, eucalyptus, and tobacco. Taste: silky smooth, balanced wine with dried sour cherry, smoke, graphite, and a nice spiced licorice cedar finish. YUM! Still holding its own and glad to have acquired a few more bottles. — 10 days ago

Stony Hill

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2005

Once I read this had a drinking window of 2008- 2040 by John Gilman I had to try it. Definitely not close to being a pop & pour so maybe he’s on to something with these. 2010 vintage has a drinking window to 2060😳 — 5 months ago

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Pop and pour. About 2 years since my last btl. Wow, stunning now.. Cola, soft nuits earth and game, dried raspberry and wild strawberry, perfume for days. On the palate: fantastic acidity, a touch thin, but somehow simultaneous denser on the finish, which shows loads of spice, strawberry. — 2 years ago

Decant and pour. They broke out the Giant glass.....black cherry, leather, tobacco, pepper, dried herbs, cedar, and tannic. Should round out over time. YUM! Super Tuscan tonight to start our Napa weekend...who woulda thunk. — 2 months ago

Corison

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Decant for sediment and pour(decent chunky/fine sediment). A remarkable murky magenta color with bricking. On the nose: beautiful nose of stewed black fruit/currants, floral, herbaceous, burnt embers, spearment. Taste: classic old school Napa, juicy, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, baking spice, smoke, sweet tobacco and a nice long earthy cocoa finish. YUM! Drinks well at year 20 and glad to have another bottle. — 5 months ago

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

9.6

This was a nice pour out of 9L served up by their Winemaker, Trevor Durling. He and his team are a great group of people.

Really excellent evolution. Classic Private Reserve George Latour style. Fine, dark tarry tannins, dark cassis, wet clay, sandalwood, used tobacco, light herbaceous notes, understated lead pencil, some baking spices, dark spice, withering dark & red flowers, excellent round acidity, balance for days, soft structure & tension and an elegant, round, plush, velvety finish that close to two-minutes.

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

2011 might be a forgotten vintage but this CB is really memorable. Did a pop and pour and it had great aromatics straight away. Medium to full bodied. Velvety. Layered. Dark berries, herbs, black tea, licorice, bay leaf. First wine on the trip to France. Great start! — 5 months ago
