Pure Paso Proprietary Red Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

Ordered at Ferraros when recommended by the sommelier. Did not disappoint and would buy again. Inky, dry, and notes of black cherry complimented the the meal well. — a month ago

Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1989

After 35 years I was not expecting much. Especially when the cork disintegrated on opening. Aureated on decanting and was happily surprised. After about 20 minutes opened to dark chocolate, leather but so smooth. The last glass was pure delight. Howell Mountain at its best! — 3 months ago

Château d'Yquem

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 1997

Love this vintage for Yquem, one of my favorites in this time period along with 88, 90 and 01. Halfsie tonight to pair with the foie gras and then dessert! Nectar of the gods 😚 — 4 months ago

A. Rafanelli

Unfiltered Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2022

Young but the apotheosis of Dry Creek. Such depth and purity of Zin fruit (spicy black raspberry) and dry gravelly earth on the nose. Deep, fruity, but composed and minerally at the same time on the palate. A little clenched on the finish because yes I’m drinking it too young. But the stuffing, balance, and structure are there for many years development. I love these guys’ Zins. — 2 days ago

@Tom Casagrande, it’s been many years (25?) since I’ve had a Rafanelli Zinfandel, we drank a lot of it back in the 1990s — great to hear they’re still killing it!!

@Doug Powers Dave’s daughter Shelly is making the wine now but the spirit is still there and fruit quality is paramount. IMO, their Zin needs time

Dom Pérignon

Brut Champagne Blend 2012

#AgedWineTuesday

Pale lemon in color.

Light nose of citrus fruits, minerals and light yeast.

Medium-bodied with high acidity.

Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, green apples, brioche, earth, light yeast, minerals, spices and herbs.

Long finish with limes and herbs.

This is a very tasty Champagne, albeit still young. Elegant and rich with nice complexity. Crisp and refreshing.

Didn't love it right out of the bottle, and needed 45 minutes of airtime to open up properly, so be patient.

I've had a few different vintages of this Champagne, and always enjoyed it.

Needs 5 years to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.

A blend of 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir. Aged for 8 years on its lees.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$275.

Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruit and floral spice, pure Caymus signature style, easy drinking, approachable as always. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry, black cherry and currants with complex spice showing notes of cacao, cinnamon and rich vanilla oak. Fine soft tannins, nice mouthfeel, great balance with acidity, long finish, ending with notes of oak and mineral notes. Nice! — a month ago

Thierry Allemand

Chaillot Cornas Syrah 2015

After 2 hours in the decanter 2015 Chaillot is showing beautifully, fully open and giving wafting distinctive Allemand aromas with a seductive, mineral inflicted palette and fine grained tannins. It shows the warmth of the vintage but not at all hot, and its liquid rock minerality and floral lift adds a seamless balance to its fruit character. This is going to keep getting better. Love these wines. — a month ago

Domaine La Barroche

Cuvée Pure Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache 2020

Too rich for my blood, but as the name suggests, it had a lovely purity. Sweet black cherries, violets, pepper, and hints of olive tapenade. Very sweet, concentrated, and full-bodied on the palate. Was looking for more elegance. — 3 months ago
