Delectable this is the Magpie Hill Reserve Shiraz not offered in your choices. Dukes better known for their award winning Rieslings but the Porongorup district of Western Australia also produces lovely spicy peppery meaty Shiraz with notes of liquorice, herbs and charcuterie. This is the first of 6 bottles bought at the Cellar Door a few years ago. Contract winemaking by the talented Rob Diletti from neighbouring Castle Rock Estate. Great value at only $31 AUD for a wine of this quality. Had another bottle 37 weeks later on the 21st December 2024 with consistent notes. Still can’t believe what great value this Shiraz is. — 4 years ago

Stewed red fruits on the nose with a gamey note. A well made Porongorup Pinot Noir from Rob Diletti who is better known for his excellent Rieslings and contract winemaking to Dukes. Rob has packed a lot into this medium bodied Pinot with Cherry and Strawberry notes along with Sous Bois and that gamey character mentioned earlier. 2 bottles left - taste the next one in a year. — 4 years ago

Tasted blind, presented by Sue Bell. I picked Riesling, Australian and missed Porongurups WA. A brilliant Riesling made by Rob Diletti at Castle Rock WA. Lovely aromatics of Musk and Bath Talc. Trader Joe’s - $14 - Received as gift from Rob & Jackie. Will rate when I try it. This wine is excellent! Very good Italian wine. Very smooth, light and not too dry. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a dry red Italian wine. I usually favor Cabernet Sauvignon but, this is exceptional. — 9 years ago
