Very solid and authentic pinot. Funky savoury nose full or cedar spice and forest floor. Good weight. Lively. Nice pure sweet strawberry and red cherry flavour profile - similar to Giant Steps, but with high toned acid. Buy — 4 years ago
Tasted blind, presented by Sue Bell. I picked Riesling, Australian and missed Porongurups WA. A brilliant Riesling made by Rob Diletti at Castle Rock WA. Lovely aromatics of Musk and Bath Talc. At 5 years the acid had settled and the citrus was going towards stone fruit. Really enjoyed this. — 5 years ago

Better than I expected. Punches well above it's price point. — 6 years ago
Typical zin fruit and spice, but a bit lighter on the tannins. Pairs well with grilled meats. — 8 years ago

As I mentioned in my previous Delectable note about this Cuvée - stewed red fruits. Strawberries and cherries. Made by the virtuoso winemaker of the Porongorups, Rob Diletti….. this time for himself instead of contract winemaking as he often does for his neighbours. Also Rob is an indemand Show Judge. Rob also makes a fabulous Riesling. — 7 months ago
Great wine gift from Rob! — 6 years ago
Dark red fruits but not plumps, creamy and rich on the palate, good acid, wood still in play, but great balance, a sleeper. — 6 years ago

Magpie Hill is the Reserve range from Dukes which is in the Porongurups, a sub district in the Great South of West Australia. The stony poor granitic soils giving concentrated wines. This producer possibly better known for its outstanding Rieslings has kicked a goal with this beautiful Shiraz. This has a very deep Ruby colour with a purple tinge. Smoky oak and mocha with ripe fruit - 14.5% ABV. Concentrated. Full bodied but not heavy- soft fine tannins. Made by the talented Rob Diletti who is their neighbour from his winery Castle Rock. Great value. — 8 months ago

Thank you @Rob Brobst III I purchased based on your review. Love it. So double thank you. It's meaty big and bouncy. — 8 years ago

Trader Joe’s - $14 - Received as gift from Rob & Jackie. Will rate when I try it. This wine is excellent! Very good Italian wine. Very smooth, light and not too dry. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a dry red Italian wine. I usually favor Cabernet Sauvignon but, this is exceptional. — 9 years ago
