Les Deux Anges Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet Red Rhone Blend 2018

Clear, deep ruby with a garnet rim; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary and secondary aromas of black cherries, graphite, and lavender; on the palate, it's dry with medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium body, and medium intensity flavors of red plums, black cardamom, and strawberries with a long finish. This wine is complex and balanced. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 5 months ago

Domaine de Piaugier

Gigondas 2019

Last night I opened the 2019 Domaine de Piaugier Gigondas from À Sablet, France. A blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre.

On the nose is rich plum, blood orange, anise, black olive, reductive notes and potting soil.

On the palate is raspberry, strawberry, black cherry, black pepper, spice, star anise, leather and brambles.

This is a medium to full bodied wine with a velvety polished mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium to medium + grippy tannins that easily move into a long red & black fruit earthy finish. Have a productive week ahead and the next weekend will be here before you know it. Stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Yes! Tastes like licking an old leather saddle with a soupçon of raspberry purée. Brettanomyces ftw. — 7 years ago

Domaine la Roubine

Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet 2023

Lovely perfume of red fruits, spice and earthy gravelly notes. The same characters come through on the light to medium weight palate with spicy top notes. Fine tannins. Not for cellaring, great to drink right now. First time with this small family owned producer and it won’t be the last. I also bought 2 bottles each of their Gigondas and Vacqueyras Cuvées when I bought 2 bottles of this Cuvée. Great value at only $40 AUD. — 8 months ago

9mg Sablet Côtes du Rhône Village Red Rhone Blend 2022

The description: A lovely aromatic intensity with perfumes of thyme and laurel. The palate is silky with red fruits and soft peppery notes.
The opinion: Accurate. Very good but needs two more years in the bottle. Going back to buy another couple of bottles to cellar.

Started as a basic Rhone but really opened up into something a little richer over time. Very good. Mostly dry with just a hint of jammy sweetness. — 7 years ago

Sablet Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Rhone Blend 2015

Wonderful step up from basic Côtes-du-Rhône with great balance of minerality, black fruit and a hint of wild herbs. Elegant on the palate - it's that joyous find, a wine that is reasonably priced and fun to drink. With modest tannins its also food friendly — 8 years ago

Sablet Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Rhone Blend 2020

Red fruit, spice & a bit of minerality. Took some time to open up but was great after. Could wait a bit longer to enjoy this vintage. Good body, smooth finish & balanced acidity. Finished with spice & fruit! — a year ago

Sablet Côtes du Rhône Villages Grenache Blend

Rhône Village blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (20%), Cinsault (15%) and Mourvèdre (5%). Bright garnet color. Aromas of ripe berries, black pepper and roasted meat. Same ripe berries on the pallet with notes of orange zest, black tea and black pepper. A good deal of minerality on the long (but a bit hot) finish. Full bodied and bold. Creamy texture but a bit sharp. — 3 years ago

Chateau Cohola

Cotes du Rhone Villages Sablet Rouge 2015

60% grenache and 40% syrah, very low yields (15 - 20 hl/ha). This organic estate goes from strength to strength and this 2016 is a beauty that outshines many a Chateauneuf-du-Pape at twice the price. Black fruit and spices, fresh acidity and noble tannin. Has complexity and very good length too. Terrific value at less than 18 euro. Highly recommended. — 7 years ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Everything I liked in the Sablet Blanc but with a lighter styled body. Deemed crushable by my tasting group...that is if you have the weekly budget to crush white Chateauneuf. If you do then I wanna hang with you sometime. — 8 years ago
