Splash decanted and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The 1999 pours a deep, turbid ruby color with an opaque core and some rim variation; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with lovely perfumed notes of tart and ripe red and dark fruits: brambles, kirsch, tobacco, purple flowers, green bell pepper, cigar box, leather, cocoa, dried green herbs and inorganic earth. On the plate late, the wine is dry with medium, well integrated tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. To my palate, this is in a great place right now and I would expect it will hold in this drinking window for many years to come. What a lovely treat to enjoy one of Silvia’s wines with some age. An utterly delicious wine.

Blackberries. Licorice. Spice. Great balance.

I had this with sausage and peppers and was not disposed towards a lengthy review given the tastiness of the dish. Having said that, this has some lovely grip. Lilacs appear on the nose. Faint hints of vanilla. I treated this as an unserious wine. But it isn’t.

Got this wine as a Christmas gift. It’s really lovely and unique. Nose = slate, chalk, terra cotta and ocean air. Body = medium. Some good acidity but not overbearing. Main flavors = cranberry and under ripened pineapple. Some sweetness mid palate with a pleasant dry finish. — 6 months ago

This wine grew on me over time and was better day 2. A more contemplative fiano- the texture demands it almost. Tons of minerality and almost absurdly dry in character. 14.5% on the bottle but didn’t feel it. — 7 months ago
