First Drop Wines

Mother's Milk Shiraz

Deep burgundy, moderate legs, medium body. (First half of the bottle) Subtle Raspberry with hints of pipe tobacco on the nose. Smooth, easy sipping, mild red fruit with smooth tannins on the finish. I want to think there is a touch of spiciness on the finish but I suspect it is the mouth feel of the tannins and not a spicy flavor. (Grilled top sirloin, cheese stuffed portobello mushrooms, broccoli with queso sauce - another lovely dinner on the lanai!) Great label! — 15 days ago

Colgin Cellars

IX Estate Napa Valley Red Blend 2018

The sheer beauty of some wines can leave you almost speachless and the 2018 Colgin IX Estate is such a wine. A gorgeous floral perfume of rose pedals and violets is followed by laser-like focused aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, red and black plum, iodine, graphite, cedar wood, black pepper and a hint of earth. The mouthfeel is off the charts, mingling depth, power and complexity with flawless elegance. The long, lingering finish feels like the aftermath to a heroic movie climax. Spectacular! Drink now until 2060. — 3 years ago

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2013

in line with the other reviews. An exceptional wine maker, doing everything from planting to pruning to winemaking. Very small production. Opened the bottle about an hour before consuming every last drop. Quite delicious. An exceptional example of Oregon Pinot Noir. — a year ago

Comtes von Neipperg Côtes de Castillon Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2014

Last nights comparison. Both were very much cherry driven fruit, but more acidic sour cherry in the 2013 at first while an almost cough drop deep cherry in the 2014. I found the 2013 had a more earthy nature while the 2014 seemed more rounded and had more deep fruit. — 4 years ago
