Well still quite the surprise for a 13 year old second wine. Medium garnet color very fragrant floral earthy nose with good acidity and weight on palate carrying through to finish with a hint of smokiness. Almost overpowered the plain roast duck but got along nicely with the Momofulu Chili paste that had just that touch of spicy note. Bodes well for the CDPs resting nicely. Did fade in Cali bothers after 3+ days. — 4 years ago
This is just plain awesome stuff for under 15 a bottle. Dark fruits, earthy wine w great balance. Perfect w a grilled steak. If there is anything here other than Syrah, I can't find it. I have bought this for years, usually drinking it too young. 8 years plus is best. — 4 years ago
Another Metrovino Calgary find. The K&L website calls this Southern Rhone blend "large, voluptuous even, bursting with flavor and with plenty of volume ". We found this smooth Cuvée blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre just plain good. Cheers 🍷🇨🇦 — 7 years ago
Holy smokes! This was phenomenal. I knew there was quite a bit of hype with the 2018 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier on release (96-99 points from the usual suspects), but I didn't think it could live up to it. It sure did though, and I'd even go so far to say that this was the best young Shiraz I've had this year, both southern and northern hemisphere included. The perfume was just plain intoxicating - fresh red cherries, plums, violets, and roses, with a lovely touch of savoury spice, pepper and meat. However, that was just the cherry on the cake because the palate really knocked it out of the park. Super fine texture with tannins that are just made of pure silk. There's serious power and persistence here, all delivered in a precise and elegant package. The flavours are pure and delineated, with a long chalky, acid-driven finish that I absolutely adore. Surely a wine that rewards the patient. One for going deep on. — 4 years ago
Super smooth and just plain delicious. Enjoyed with Becky at a family dinner in Chandler. — 6 years ago
Rhone whites hit hard on texture and plenty to gob about in that category here. Oil, but not oily with a stubborn acidic stake for balance. Coats the tongue, takes an extra second to slip off the sides into a pillow soft sensation.
Aromatically juicy, only moderately luscious as CDP goes - little hints of spiced dessert.
Fresh cubed peaches and apricots and toasted coconut shavings folded into plain vanilla yogurt. — a year ago
Dave Collins just plain owns S/B...from his days at Breaux, he crafts a powerful, world class single varietal that says NZ move over. Not to miss in sunny, stable vintages, this is a solid 92pt white Bordeaux! Body ✔️ Acid✔️✔️ Profile ☑️.....indeed, impressive! — 4 years ago
You can read the newspaper through this wine but don’t let it fool you! Ethereal, multi layered, just plain fabulous for Côte du Rhone. — 7 years ago
