Absolute favorite. A wonderfully crafted wine perfect for those summer days spent picnicking in pastures of wildflowers or on the lake, the aromatics of this Fleur Sauvage brings notes of star fruit, orange blossoms, and opens up to a warm note of vanilla bean. Flavors of papaya, apricot, and golden apples are balanced with subtle notes of vanilla custard.

Bold TX red. — 3 years ago
Star bright, deep yellow gold with silver green highlights. Inviting nose of yellow apple and cement block. RICH medium palate yields yellow apple, honey, honeysuckle, and a hint of flint. Juicy bright acidity more than balances the Spätlese-level sweetness making for a wonderfully refreshing and tasty accompaniment to any meal from simple sausages to the eclectic American Thanksgiving table. Lovely now. Should continue to reward through 2034. — 4 years ago
Bought at the winery in 2021 just as things started to lift for COVID, and we brought our dog Murph along. This has sat for a bit, with three sediment coating the inside of the bottle, and is starting to show some age, with a pale red, somewhat fig color, with amber notes and bricking to the edges. The nose is tart, with more hints of fig, iron/blood, and a little iodine, with some softer fig newton and dark plum notes to finish. The palate is still acidic, with a little smoke or charcoal, super ripe strawberries, star anise, grapefruit, butterscotch, some iodine or apple cider vinegar, grandma’s fruit chew gummies, some iron and age elements of amber and velvet present at the finish. Astro Lab Brewer, Silver Spring MD. Hazy IPA with Mosaic, Columbus and Citra hops. 7.1%
Medium gold, big, slightly rocky head that is quite persistent. Knock-out nose which to me reads as pine resin/juniper berry. Very well balanced with a just-so textural play between hop bitterness and malty sweetness. — 6 years ago
Texas wines have grown. This is an outstanding blend of Grenache Syrah and Mourvèdre from Salt Lick Vineyard. This is a complex wine with great structure and finesse. Great to see the Lone Star State wines mature and compete in the world stage. Visited the Fall Creek Vineyards. Well worth it can’t get it retail because of the limited production but can get it online. New release of the 2016 vintage. Excellent! — 8 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed alongside Texas BBQ on the plane home. The 2005 “Hommage a Jacques Perrin” pours a deep purple with a ruby rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with mostly dark fruits: mixed brambles, black cherry, animale, star anise and black pepper, garrigue and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This continues to be ever so dense but paired admirably with the BBQ. Drink now through 2055. — 25 days ago
