The 2006 La Torre pours a slightly hazy garnet color; browning with some rim variation. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous and showing the typical nature of the vintage; full, round, generous. The fruit is mostly desiccated in profile with leather, espresso, chocolate, earth and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. The structure is very well integrated but keeping everything propped up. The finish is long, lovely. Drink now. I wouldn’t hold these past 2026. — 9 months ago
Incredible Rioja blend. Vanilla, coconut, cedar, and dried fruits on the nose and palette. Paired great with a chocolate/caramel dessert. — 6 months ago
It may be the middle of winter, but we’ve just had a summers day — 9 months ago
Delicious! Dark chocolate, blackberry, black currant, a little spicy and sweet. WS northern Italy tasting. — 3 years ago
I bought and drank a fair amount of Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre back in the late 1990s, and always enjoyed them. First time in the past 20 years, this seems a little softer and polished, a little lower ABV (13.5 vs. 14+ in earlier vintages), this is vinified using conventional fermentation as well as some ripasso fermentation (think Amarone drying grapes on straw mats), and has some very nice complexity and length, very nice!! — 6 months ago
A surprisingly serious & balanced Nero D’Avola-black fruited all the way. Plenty of casis & blackberries on palate. Quite concentrated but not overly so or too fruity-Apparently a portion of the grapes used are dried in the old style (& as in some Venetian wines). Not complex either but just delicious. Polaner book, & at 13$ a steal. — 8 months ago
Nose is very rocky with loads of flowers and fresh cherries and some cassis. Lovely wet earth as well. Echoes of Burgundy. Also that metal smell I get from Nerello and Etna wines. Fresh and energetic with an invigorating palate and not as much depth as the Chiuse Vidalba which is the high end cuvee but this is delicious and very well made. Nose has a floral-cassis thing that is so appealing. Nose now has hits of tar and forest floor. Really dig this. Super juicy and so pure. Excellent. Long as f. — 3 years ago

Very nice black pepper at first nose. Cherries, blackberries and acidity in mouth. A little bit high alcohol. Amarone as it should be. Rounded, soft, flex but full bodied with very gentle tanins. Should be a little bit generous to get a higher rate. But overall a great wine. Just a great choice for amarone mood. Always have it in my wine rack. — a month ago
