2018 vintage. Beef, barnyard lite, rhubarb and room-temp bread dipped in olive oil in the nose. Light-bodied. Rhubarb and mushroom in the flavor profile along with raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. Drinking really nicely currently but wondering where it will wander in the next year? Will have to get another bottle to find out. First bottle from this esteemed producer and it won’t be my last. — 3 years ago
Getting a strong tobacco note or something like that, which is unusual for a Pinot Noir, but it's tasty. — 5 years ago
Over four years since last rating. Complexity has increased. Needs a two hour decant to let the wine express itself. Just phenomenal (and this bottle made it through a tropical cyclone and meandering wander in a container through a hot SE Asian summer!). — 4 years ago
Imagine standing beside a French barn with a stone base over rough timber. The door is open with horses inside. Olive trees and tilled soil to one side. Violets, prickly roses, and lilacs grow wild to the other side. After some air, the horses wander away. — 5 years ago
Here I am during my last evening in New Zealand drinking Champagne. We went to one of the old fashioned department stores to buy some NZ chocolate to bring back home and I happen to wander into the wine section where I find this 166 which I always enjoyed a lot. Thanks to the Kiwi dollar exchange rate this was just 170 USD and I could not resist :). This is such a beautiful champagne with toasted nut and brioche aromas - unmistakenly a Krug and a well-made classic that drinks exceptionally well right now. — 2 years ago
Tasting the 2018 vintage on a leisurely wander through Santenay. Fabulous wine from an unusual terroir. 2018 is going to be amazing — 2 years ago

When I really got introduced to wine is when I visited family in Austria, and they took us to a traditional buschenschank in Rüst near the border. And a super fun experience we got to eat and drink and wander through several sellers just enjoying things I didn’t even know existed. I saved this bottle and it’s traveled with me for over 20 years at this point and I resolved to open it when the time was right. Well, I finally got some girl tricked into marrying me and I realized it was that time. Frankly, there was nothing special about the day been a long week for the both of us and we are looking forward to going to the symphony with friends, but opening this wine was just a reminder of all the good things in life. I still can’t believe it’s only 9.5% alcohol. Just wonderful apricot and muted smells and taste along with just a smooth slightly butterscotch nature to it. By the time it was open, there were a bunch of the tartaric acid crystals group in the bottom. Still thick and bright and lovely and frankly for the alcohol it has you can’t believe the structure on there. Neither comes across as clean or therapy and it’s just a wonderful wine. — 17 days ago
