Happy new year DL peeps.
Enjoying this, but we both felt it was extra brut, rather than the brut label designation.
Typical champers notes of brioche and almonds. Good citrus grip, which finishes with muscular bubbles and a near bone-dry finish. Not quite our style, but still good. — 4 years ago

Didn’t take a bottle photo, but the ‘96 had notes of hazelnut, brioche, and a bone dry, subtle aldehydic finish. A great bottle to toast the new decade. — 4 years ago

New Years Eve at The Farm Restaurant, Carneros Resort and Spa. Opened some of my favorite wines: Marcassin Chardonnay, 2012 with oysters and caviar and salmon dish. Structure of wine is layered with apricot-orange, floral blossoms, lemon, cedar and vanilla. The Next of Kyn, 2013 Syrah blend paired nicely with the Wellington beef. Covers the pallet with dark blackberry, licorice and chocolate changing in taste as it opened up. Tannins still present but not over powering. Both wines deserve a 9.5 rating with plenty of age left on them. — 4 years ago

Excellent modern style Pomerol with full of ripe red fruit and dark dried cherries with lots of tannin and slight hints of gravel. Beautiful Bordeaux but young yet goes marvellously well with a traditional beef Wellington. Cheers and happy New Years to all — 4 years ago

If I can draw up a Southern Rhône style bled, this pretty much nails it. Raspberry notes with an herbal quality and an elegant texture across the palate. Another one for NYE. Happy New Year! — 4 years ago
