Enfer D'Arvier Petit Rouge 2020

Whew came swimmin’ out this bouquet cause it is rich and enriching, cedar, clove, baking spices, forest floor, the spice of fresh velvet.

Only 16 cases were made and the little wine shop on Jones Street, Jones Street Wine, was nice enough to let me get my hands on one of their last bottles (1 of 5).

Mouthwateringly good. Nice balance of spice and acid to wake up the buds. Little to no bitterness. Punchy fruit punches through. And that wonderful clove essence throughout.

Few wines make me write longer notes, but when I find one that does, I can’t seem to stop talking about them.

Aight time to drink it though…

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

9.2

Richly textured with predominately ripe fruits and oak notes at this young age, but in a way that somehow conveys a sense of understated elegance. Enough acidity to carry the medium to full body.
My first of this iconic Chard from down under. And it did not disappoint.

Castiglione Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

The post COVID slump buster. Classic Barolo profile - cherries, dried rose, deep tannins. Tight on day 1. But love that I can have a glass, recork bottle and know it’ll taste even better the next day. — 2 years ago

Pieropan Soave Garganega 2020

Tasty is an understatement! Very expressive with fresh floral notes, citrus and a hint of slate on the nose. The palate is loaded with juicy, ripe fruit balanced perfectly with a cut of zippy acidity! — 2 years ago

Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Day 10 of covid isolation and finally a negative test. Yeah!.....had to break out something nice to celebrate. Prior notes mostly apply. This is a beauty of a wine worthy of any celebration. Cheers! — 2 years ago

Valle d'Aosta Petite Arvine 2018

OMG so good. Goes great with basil pesto!! 1 hr later: OK I can’t stop drinking this. It’s got a lot of fruit like a Sauvignon Blanc but then this super saline finish. It’s just so balanced and perfect.. — 2 years ago

Conterno Gattinara Nebbiolo 2016

The most Burgundian Nebbiolo I’ve come across. Stunning nose. Rustic barnyard notes, iron, cherry, kirsch, tobacco, and nutmeg. Lifted, perfumed, yet slightly funky. Dry, but not Barolo dry. Acidity adds vibrancy and balance. Minerality, slightly underripe red fruit. Cranberry and chalk. Lingers on the finish. So good. — 2 years ago
