From the country's southeastern Alicante, this flamboyantly dressed (it was orginally designed for the King of Spain) Monastrell - a grape better known as Mourvedre or Mataro - has endless savory appeal. Medium bodied with deep, brambly fruit, dark roasted miso, dusty tannins and mellowed acidity it has an unmisakeably Spanish sultriness.
