Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2018 “Napa Valley” pours a near opaque garnet with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with a combination of tart, dark fruits: black currants, blackberries, purple flowers, dried leaf tobacco, and soft baking spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and full of energy. One of Napa’s true gems. Lovely, distinctive; a wine with personality. Drinking well now but undoubtedly has a long life ahead. 2024 through 2038+.

Medium ruby . Showing well from the off . Dark cassis , violet , blackberry and mint . On the palate nicely balanced , cool dark fruits, touch of grafite . Good acidity and present ripe but quite dry tannins, alcohol well integrated . Good length and nice balance on the cool blackcurrant finish . The next day this is showing a little better , more savoury , though still with a ripe cassis heart . Touch of spice and bitter chocolate, along with grafite and mineral touches . Showing firmer tannins also , and still good refreshing acidity . Shows that this will benefit from more time in bottle , will improve over the next 5- 8 years and last a further 5-8 .

From half bottle. Just singing. Needs air, decant. After about 2 hours opened up. Cedar box, cherries, currant, rosemary, vanilla oak, pepper. So freakin good!

Hits all the right buttons. In the St Helena crowd I would say I like Kathryn Hall a bit more.

2018 vintage. Delicate, herbal notes up top. Sleek light-medium/medium body. Enough punch to satisfy the primal yet a decent amount of grace to navigate the entire palate. Not your typical Napa cab. Nicely done.

Opening my first bottle to try young. Classic corison. Pure and savory. Dark berries. Graphite. Grippy tannins.
