E Guigal produces fine Rhône wines. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruit and simple spice. On the palate juicy flavors of black plum and blackberry fruit, pepper and black olive notes, vivid acidity, good balance. Firm tannins (needs decanting) lingering finish ending with spicy fruit character. Drink now and over next 5 years. Good value.

Nose is a blast of black cassis with hints of pepper and licorice. Tastes of licorice and maybe a hint of mint with dark berries. Nice tannins. Solid.

A bit sweeter than I anticipated. Pretty floral - rose petal - notes, along with new leather and berry fruit. Medium weight on the palate. Well made.

I've had plenty of Guigal wines and they have usually deliveted. Based on Josh Raynolds review of 92p I was eager to try this but was somewhat disapointed. Even after 3h this remained rather thin, one dimensional and acidic lacking both the midpalate depth as well as the florals. There is nothing basically wrong, it's just uninspiring. Maybe off-bottle ir odd phase but consodering this I'd drink the base CdR over this and benefit of the 1/2price point

A light-medium bodied Syrah thats lovely to drink. Baked/dried raspberries and blueberries, unmistakably old world fruit with some aging dried red and purple flowers. Fresh cracked pepper reinforced by the texture of the tannins, which grip the gums in that same way a kernel of peppercorn does.
