Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Best and last bottle of this from the collection. Very classic with a depth and breadth that puts the 2010 at seven years it's senior levels ahead of the 2017. Classic! — 4 days ago

Richebourg Pinot Noir 2001

Cherry confit nose with balsamic violets. Soy attack. Some energy and firm tannin (from oak?). Beautiful finish. — a month ago

Romanée-Conti Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1999

Needs a long decant which it did not get. Never opened but was still delicious. — 18 days ago

Échézeaux Pinot Noir 2005

2005 vintage. Great fill and cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Small amount of chunky and powdery sed. Nose a bit musty but never funky during a high decant. Medium-heavy body. Tremendous power throughout. Can easily go another two decades. Still packing the signs of youth such as individual flavors easily evident vs melded/integrated ones. Tasted more like a 2020 vintage. Was hoping for more black tea, espresso, orange citrus peel, soy sauce notes (and there were some). This one's gonna need a bigger boat...er...another 7-8 years or a 5 hour decant to shed some of that overt power in a trade off for nuance. Delicious in its own way but not easy. Demanding. 04.04.25. — 22 days ago

@Pinotman /// Andreas If you ever saw The Untouchables from the late ‘80’ with Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Andy Garcia and Robert De Niro…the “baseball bat scene.” That was this wine. Irrational and overkill. Fantastic in that space and time tho.

Pergola Dandelion Albariño

So acidic, so salty. My favorite kind of white. Was perfect with a shrimp curry. — a month ago

Romanée-St. Vivant Pinot Noir 2002

Off the chain. This RSV is elegant in every way with nice floral hints on the nose and velvety texture on the palate. Nice medium to longish finish. A real treat from a friend that is a self described “Burgundy-snob.” Maybe a very generous Burgundy snob. His mother taught him to share. — 17 days ago

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

Incredible brunello. Epitome of a young brunello. Violet ruby color with dark cherries and plums with touches of spice, aromas of forest floor and Great integrated tannins. Complex and it evolves beautifully in the glass. Definitely a drink now wine or ageworthy. The essence of sangiovese. Definitely one to try again and again. — a month ago
