Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2020 “Cottà” pours a light garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with pretty notes of raspberry and strawberry, rhubarb, roses, dried herbs, cool spices and dry rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and delightful. The quality of fruit was outstanding. Absolutely delicious. Drink now with patience through 2040. — 3 months ago

Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy dried fruits and sweet complex spice. On the palate dried black cherry, blackberry jam and licorice flavors. Full body, medium acidity, soft tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with vanilla and pepper spice and a bit of warming alcohol. Drink now. — 9 months ago
Opened the precious day and kept in the wine fridge overnight. The 2021 “La Rocca” pours a straw color with medium- viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with cheese and melons: cantaloupe, musk melon, Taleggio and Pecorino Romano with some lemon and raw almonds. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and there’s palpable texture. A fun wine and more interesting than most Gavi’s I’ve had recently. This is 100% Cortese sourced from their vineyards in Barbaresco and San Rocco Seno d’Alba; fermented and aged in French oak barriques. Drink now. — 3 months ago
Ruby grapefruit, starchy underripe bananas frying on a pan, strawberry shortcake, fresh clay and stream pebbles on the nose. On the palate, ripe peach, juicy grapefruit, Mirabelle liqueur, ripe banana. Nice viscous mouthfeel with a medium-short finish. Fun and interesting orange — a year ago
