1 of CA's oldest wineries, Far Niente, founded 1885 by John Benson. Winery flourished until Prohibition, when it was abandoned & fell into complete disrepair. Stately stone shell of a winery purchased in 1979 by Gil Nickel. A big wine! Tropical and stone fruit aromas with complex spice and oak notes. On the palate apple, peach and citrus flavors, creamy, with buttery toasty oak, fig/honey tones. Long finish ending with vibrant acidity & mineral character. Consistent. — 12 days ago

The first two glasses did little to nothing for me, but that opening shyness turns into an expressive full-bodied mouthful as more air gets on it. Very dominate notes of pastry, the creaminess of baked apple pie, marzipan and apricot run into the richness and depth of aged reserve wines. Still has a polished feel that takes away some needed acid. Have it with chicken or pork dishes — 22 days ago

Pop and pour. A striking medium gold color. On the nose: wonderful aeromatics of apple, honeycomb, floral, lemon, almonds. On the palate complex flavors of apple, peach, pineapple and lemon citrus, well balanced with acidity on a nice mouthfeel.
