At Coci Northpark San Diego. The wine. Food excellent. Very very difficult to evaluate. I think they used too much oak on this. Ridiculous big and tannic even after 12 years. And after 90 minutes. I tough it is corked at first and even at 60min. Tobacco, cigar box. Touch cherry hint of prune plum. And better with a t-bone than with the light Italian food.I think they really overdid it to please - May be Robert Parker - at the time? Give it at least 2 hours to breathe before serving!!!! — 2 months ago
Aromas of leather, wet soil, black cherry and menthol. The lush palate features red and black cherry and strawberry fruit with hints of orange zest, black olives, balsamic vinegar and baking spices. A bit of vanilla on the long and lingering finish. Well structured tannins and abundant acidity. Solid. — 6 months ago
This was singing last night. Nice nose of mature cherries and spice box. Mid palate displays density and weight. Packed with ripe cherries and a hint of tobacco, complemented with a moderate tannin structure. Oak treatment was in the background. Finished with length and a hint of soft brown sugar. Acidity is still prominent so I assume you could continue to hold this for another 7 years with ease. — 2 months ago
Grosso! Might be too big if I wasn’t tasting twenty-five other wines. Still, it was quite nice and I would revisit w something tomato. — 6 months ago
I love this Montalcino ($63 Davidson’s) and the general cherry-herbal-menthol flavor profile of Montalcinos. I’ve had this one before, and enjoyed almost as much as the last time. This time, it was paired opposite a barolo (also rated) that was probably even better. — 7 months ago
This is a very elegant style of Brunello. Nose has sultry macerated dark cherry, terra cotta tile earthiness, some gorgeous sweet spice notes. In the mouth it’s soft, medium-full, and has some nice complexity. Notes of earthy gravel and porcini mushroom to go along with the rich fruit. Tannins are soft but still provide a nice tactile reference point. Acids are soft. Lengthy finish. — a month ago
Superb with our Margarita Pizza. Big Cherry aromas with the slightest tawny tinge as I poured. Bold flavors with a long finish. Two bottles left! — 2 months ago
Red fruit but the savory side of it; that crayola thing I am a slut for, clay, pipe tobacco, tomato jam, rosewood, incense, savory herbs and developed red fruit on the palate. They say you can only have this kind n Rhode Island but I feel like some Italians can have it too. Delish. — 4 months ago

Vintage 2017 | 4 hours in decanter and then I was surprised by its accessibility. Very elegant wine with good structure, fine acidity and extreme good balance. Cherries. Paired with a spiced oyster mushrooms spaghetti. Reliable BdM — 4 days ago
