Ridge Vineyards

Geyserville Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend 2016

Wine #2 of Ridge night and more with dessert. More bramble and density than the Boatman. Less fruit and the fruit was darker and more black than blue. Also enjoyable — a year ago

9.1

Spicy, plummy red fruit. Sharp, angular. Slate, concrete, pronounced pepper. Both vegetable pepper and spicy pepper. Forest floor with new oak dominance in the finish. Surprisingly lacking in aromatics. — 6 years ago

Is that 100% Zin? I thought I heard at least 5% petit Verdot t be honest

Boatman Alexander Valley Zinfandel 2016

Definitely one of the Zinfandel standouts from the 2018 Spring release (along with the Carmichael IMO). That being said, I think this would benefit from a few years in the cellar to work off some of the baby fat. Plush, dark fruits and baking spices. Moderate acid. This would be fun to follow over the next ten years. — 5 years ago

A good wine for summer nights, I could probably drink the whole bottle.
