An airy, effusive and downright beautiful wine is the 2018 Taganan from the Tenerife Envínate property of modernist Spanish winemakers Laura Ramos, Jose Martínez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente. Created from 100-200 year old vines on volcanic soils, it’s a delicate, restrained wine with a gorgeous, smoky bouquet of sour cherry, strawberries and Provençal herbs; the palate, meanwhile, is saturated with very fine tannins, almost imperceptible acidity and nice length. Served lightly chilled, this is an exciting wine which should gain further interest with age. — 4 years ago
My exploration of Canarian wines #2
From Tenerife.
Rich golden yellow in the glass and full of spicy peaches & pears with a dab of honey. On the palate this is quite rich, but with a core of volcanic, spicy & salty minerality that binds it all together. Nicely balanced and with a very decent finish. This is quite nice actually. — 7 years ago
— 4 months ago

... The gentle GIGANT! Full body ripe dark fruit goodness with soft tannins, smoky, wildflowers, coffee and eucalyptus with a beautiful mineral brush. Long dry Woody finish it will transport you to a volcano in the middle of the Atlantic called : Tenerife. — 7 years ago
There really is something about island wines. We seem to have an affinity to them all—Madeira, Corsica, Sicily...and here we with are with Canary sack. Red, actually, with terrific poise, balance, and expression of terroir. Double decanted and enjoyed on the second day. Funky nose, with some sweet fruit mixed in. Peppery palate, wet stone, easy fruit, and great acidity. Another winner. — 7 years ago

Interesting Canary Islands listan blanco. I’m still not sure I could eloquently describe reduction in a wine but I can tell you that this seems to be a good example of it. Still quite balanced. Doesn’t have the acid intensity I generally look for but enjoyed it. — 4 years ago
Blend of Listan Negro and Negramoll, with about 10% of Listan Blanco (white variety) from the stunning Margalagua parcel, perched above the Atlantic Ocean in the area of Taganana, in northeastern Tenerife. Fermented in open top vats and aged in neutral oak for a year. Delicate, ethereal. Smoke and citrus notes. Some spices. Volcanic funk. Light on the palate. Really elegant — 4 years ago
