Kanonkop Estate

Simonsberg Stellenbosch Pinotage 2019

And now to South Africa! Where they produce some awesome en es for decent prices. The Pinotage was created there. A crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (which was called Hermitage in its olden days). It tastes like a Pinot Noir on steroids. But, when Kanonkop gets its hands on it they lift it up to a sensational experience. Vibrant, intense and layered with flavors. Their black label is their cream of the crop sourced from old vines. — a month ago

Juniper Estate

Juniper Crossing Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017

Bought this as an afterthought and quite pleased that I did. It's complex and rich, with blackcurrant/plum fruit, cedary oak and soft tannins all on the same page. Great value. — 4 years ago

The Crossing Carignan Blend 2017

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, sweet blueberry and vanilla, currant and toasted oak. Hints of Creme brûlée. On the palate, medium- full bodied with a nice richness and body to it. Blueberry, dark berry and vanilla with forest floor, oak and must. Long finish of the same. Very nice blend. — 5 years ago

Segura Viudas

Brut Cava Blend

Really lovely bottle for the bucks, and could stand it’s own among a more expensive bubbly. (Also love the magnum here.) Smells of sourdough yeast and baked apple. Plenty of lemon and brioche. Has a creamy feel too. Lots of beautiful bubbles. Ends with a nice dry finish. — 3 years ago

Delicious. Not as good after a day, drink it all the day it’s opened. — 7 months ago

Winemakers' Cellar Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay 2018

First thing: much earthier than I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of ripe fruit: lemon 🍋, pineapple 🍍, and apricot 🍑. But before the fruit, there’s smoky minerality 💨 and dried thyme 🌱 followed by hazelnut. 🌰
