Antica Terra

Ceras Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Nose - forest floor, wood, tobacco, moss. Main flavors - stewed plum and light baking spices. A bit of tannic structure but overall smooth and earthy. Like no Pinot noir I’ve ever had. Tremendous! Read the James Suckling review and he has it right it’s moody. But I think moody in the best possible way. — 3 months ago

Best bottle since the '06 I had with vesuvian tomatoes. Well put together with just the right amount of bottle age to balance fruit, structure and softness. — 4 years ago

Antica Terra

Angelicall Pinot Noir Rosé 2019

Terrific rose of pinot noir from Maggie Harrison of Antica Terra. This is not your garden-variety rose: serious skin contact time coupled with her incredible wine-making abilities has produced a really substantive wine. Reminds me a bit of Manfred’s SQN roses (not surprising, I guess, since Maggie worked with Manfred for I believe a decade or so before striking out on her own with what I think is the best winery in the Willamette Valley). Do yourself a favor and try to snag some of this. Terrific juice. — 4 years ago

I am about as big a fan of this rosé as anyone. Regardless of price, I absolutely love it. I know you also enjoy Andremily (as do I)…have you tried their rosé? It’s bigger and more rich in style, akin to SQN rosés, more so than the Angelicall. But, I believe those three rosés belong in a category all to their own!

@Shay A, I have had thd Andremily (only bought 3 - should have gotten more, because these will age for a couple of years. Check out Paix sur Terre’s rose of mourvedre. Lighter style, but Ryan Pease is growing those mourvedre grapes specifically to make rose.

Terra d'Oro

Amador County Zinfandel 2018

Medium ruby color; strawberries, dried herbs, and cherries on the nose; high acidity, high tannins; tastes like raspberry jam, crushed gravel, and white pepper with a long finish. Nellie doesn't like it. I think it's very good and very drinkable. I would definitely buy this again. It gets even better after some aeration. — 2 years ago

Finfin start men lite beskare ju längre ner i flaskan man kommer, tyvärr. Men inte hästkiss detta. #TNWC — 4 years ago

Monteverro

Terra di Monteverro Toscana Red Blend 2014

Dark fruit, high acid, grainy tannins, long finish. Elegant power. For Bordeaux varieties in CA and IT I always end up liking the cool vintages best. Scorching a giant flank steak to pair with this and Trump’s impending debate meltdown. Bring it on. — 5 years ago

Terra d'Uro

La Enfermera Toro Tempranillo

Fruity blossomy fragrances as it's full flavor touches your tongue! The balance in acidity is a welcome to that a tempranillo should always be...superbly just a very refreshing finish with taste I can only compare it as a continuous dark chocolate dark cherry cordell from start to finish with the fruit down the center of the palate and the dark chocolate around it in a continuity that's just plain delicious! — 3 years ago

Bodegas Terra Sigilata

Filón Calatayud Garnacha 2019

Nose: sweet baking spices, vanilla. Plum and dark berries - but the aforementioned flavors much more prominent than fruit. Taste: Amber herbs, distinct tobacco (it distinctly tastes the way tobacco smells, I can almost picture loose tobacco), the tannins add a nice bitterness to balance the sweet impression of the spices - bitter plum. I am having trouble picking out a lot of distinct flavors, but “simple” doesn’t seem like the right word - more subtle than simple. This seems very well made for the price ($10). Not my preferred style, but may buy again - worth it. 89. EDIT: black pepper and a lot more fruit (very ripe raspberry) shows as it gets air. I may have liked it better right out of the bottle. — 4 years ago
