2015 doing exactly what 2015 does. Ripe, roasted, pretty, but pretty in a 2:30 a.m. lights-came-on way. The makeup is still on, the heels are in hand, and the room suddenly looks a little less forgiving. Still enjoyable, but this is not mystery or tension. Rugiens Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

2011 vintage. Last tasted 2.14.25 (9.2). This was the last bottle of this effort in the keep. Previous encounter left me feeling like this was slightly tired and just over the hill. This time, the view was from the top of the hill and fully awake. Not improving at this stage of life but this bottle was roaring. Light-medium body with age-appropriate color and tracings of sediment on the decant. Tasted post-decant after 15 minutes and 1 hour. Tamarind/orange, clove, cinnamon essences with some casual cola nut riding atop the flavor wave alongside a singular spritz of rhubarb. Still very heady tannins afoot to corral the delicate body and impressions. Wish I had a few more of these as this was another excellent, 1er Cru, experience. Based on this particular specimen, this could go another 4-5 years without an amended score or drop-off. A Pommard constantly sticking and moving versus one looking to land that one uppercut. 10.24.25. — 9 months ago

Une autre belle bouteille de ce beau premier cru, un fruit énergique, éclatant, épicé, terreux légèrement et avec des tannins ayant de la poigne mais aussi une belle fraîcheur et longueur fort appréciable. 92-93

Another great bottle if this nice “premier”, fresh, energetic and gorgeous fruit, spicy, slightly earthy and with a medium plus bodied palate and tannins, good length as well.

Gorgeous red fruit on the nose and palate, generous wine with an acidity that is high but brings freshness and such a nice silky texture on the slightly grippy tannins, simply beautiful.

Drank in 2021. Delicious. Opens nicely with an expected bouquet - another reviewer called it “old school.” It’s subtle and good friendly. Paired extremely well with a pasta dish with slightly sweet sausages, mozzarella and spinach. Also lovely to enjoy on its own without food but some good conversation — 5 years ago
