The bottle had a chip on the lip that was concealed by the foil. (See upper left of photo). There wasn’t any glass released by removing the cap, so the bottle should not have been used. None-the-less, the wine was fine. The color was dark straw. On the nose the caramel aging notes are evident. On the palate more caramel notes along with oak, lemon, molasses, ginger, burnt sugar, and minerals. Medium bodied, high acid, medium alcohol, with a long finish. This is a 2009 and fully aged. — 12 days ago
I’m a little bit disappointed with this wine. For 3y it shows surprising age - deep golden color, with ripe yellow apples & Reine Claude plums, with a bit of fresh apple pie. Round and mellow - I miss the typical mineral, steely sharpness. Esp. at this age.
On the palate this is more structured, properly mineral & steely with racy, juicy acidity and a long finish of salty lemons. Nice depth, too.
Went well with the fish, by not sure if I’m going to buy it again. — 2 months ago
Smell: distinct smell of soy sauce combined with multiple kinds of woods and hints of tobacco.
Taste: very nice taste of black fruits blackberry and plum. Medium sweetness with low acidity and medium tannins.
Appearance: full bodied clear liquid with a garnet deep intense color.
Conclusion: very good Portuguese wine — 4 months ago
