Domaine François Cotat

Les Culs de Beaujeu Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Vintage 2009 | There is no point in being sorry, I know, but I wish I bought more Cotat. Incredible Sancerre with 16 years. No sign of age or fatigue, very vivid. Citrus, minerals, white chocolate, very rich smell, fresh. Some flint, a brieve hint of honey. This wine is all about e l e g a n c e. — 8 days ago

Love aged Sancerre!!

Hospices de Beaune

Cuvée Guigone de Salins Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Hospices de Beaune Cuvées are aged (raised) by various Negociants, in this case the highly accredited Australian winemaker, Jane Eyre. The nose is a little closed initially. Might have been opened a little early in its drinking window. The palate shows ripe red fruits (cherry) reflecting the warmer vintage. See previous Delectable note. The following night a peppery note. Luckily I have 3 left. Hopefully this will open up in the next few years and gain some complexity. — 9 months ago

I bought half a case in Burgundy nearly 20 years ago. Arguably the worst Burgundy I’ve ever had. I won’t go back to this… I would have been happy with a 90 pt score.

Hospices de Beaune

Cuvée Blondeau Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Louis Jadot negociant, I guess for WineBid? Pretty average Burgundy, decent fruit but overly acidic/sparkly early, wooden late, and turned sour after being open awhile — 4 years ago

Cuvée Madeleine Collignon Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2020

Very powerful and deep. Brooding notes of dark plum. Some oak, spice and blood. Great stuff but very hard to unpack right now. — 3 months ago

Clos de Beaujeu Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Intense but way softer and fruitier than expected, likely due to vintage conditions. Intensely mineral on the nose but vying for primacy with copious amount of deep orchard fruit (greengage?). Rich and intense in the mouth. Lowish acids. Very very good but seemingly atypical (or maybe this is global warming typical). — 4 months ago
