Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2023

Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2023, Rhone, France

Pale gold in color.

Earthy nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity and a light buttery mouthfeel.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing limes, lemons, green apples, light grapefruits, herbs and spices.

Nice length on the finish with bitter herbs.

Needs a couple of years of bottle time to mature properly, but already very approachable.

Earthy and entertaining. Elegant and buttery. A good food wine.

A blend of 45% Clairette, 35% Grenache Blanc and 20% bourboulenc.

13% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache - Mourvedre Blend 2010

Close to pop and pour. Not juicy, but lots of red fruit — strawberry, raspberry, cherry (the pits). Also plum. Some leather. Minerals and clay. A little violet. Dried rose petals. Still has some grip — plum-skin-like. Acidity balances it all very nicely. Really good. 92. — 6 months ago

Cuvée Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhone Blend 2021

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Tradition showcases lovely aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, melon, vanilla and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, vibrant and framed by supple acidity, it can be drunk now but will also develop tertiary notes over the next couple of years. Les 7 de Pignan Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache 2022

This is a delicious Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and complex.

Dry on the palate with a nice mouthfeel.

Showing red and black fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

Well balanced, and needs time to open up properly.

Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

A great sipping wine that will pair nicely with food too.

100% Grenache grapes, from 70 year old vines, were aged in French oak barrels for 15 months. A small production of only 6,000 bottles.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

La Folie Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2019

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of cherries, raspberries, cedar, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth and wild flowers.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, toast, light vanilla, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, earth and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a hint of New World style. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward, powerful and engaging.

Nicely balanced and spicy, with a great mouthfeel.

This 6 year old is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. The high alcohol is well integrated by now. A great sipping wine.

A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre from 100 year old vines. Aged in new French oak barrels. A small production of only 3,500 bottles.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

Le Tertre du Bosquet Sauternes White Bordeaux Blend 2019

Very nice Sauternes with delightful balance of fruit, flowers, sweetness and unctuousness, plus sufficient acids to bring it all together. Quite a delicious sipper. This was the very last bottle of Sauternes I could find at my local BevMo in Santa Monica, and it was just a half bottle at that. I should really go back to the Wine House or Wally’s for my wine purchases but this tells me how under appreciated Sauternes is in the U.S. A pity.
I enjoyed the 2019 vintage with homemade chicken liver pâté on toasted brioche.

Cuvée Tradition Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 2005

20 yrs old, celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary. Was perfect. So perfumed, nose was the best part - brickish color, tannins resolved, but, enough bite to stay interesting — 5 months ago
