Quite deep ruby, bright pink rim. Pretty oaky at the beginning , then ripe cherry , red plum and some spice . On the palate quite astringent acidity and tannin , with similar fruits profile on the nose , ripe deeper fruits , cherry and plum . With time there is better integration , and a slight mineral , chalky , spiced tinged finish . It is not all that long and slightly warm . This is difficult to read at the moment , oak is quite prominent and the palate disjointed . Needs time obviously so come back in 5-10 years, though don’t hold your breath for a superior wine. — a year ago
2019 vintage. Previously enjoyed less than 2 weeks ago (9.2 rating on 8.19.23). Big, heavy white that got a decant before tasting. Enjoyed over the course of an hour. Medium/medium-heavy body. All the smoky, toasty, vanilla, mineral qualities in the nose bridged the strait and made it into the flavors with the mineral component ultimately ruling the roost...er...glass. Long-lived producer so it was much too early to crack this particular egg. Give it a half-decade-at least. 8.31.23. — a year ago

I have been a long time fan of Les Malconsorts as it is a neighbour of La Tache at a fraction of the price. We chose not to decant with the advice of the Somm but after 40 minutes and vigorous swirling maybe we should have. Initially closed but then developed a savoury red fruited nose. Extended through to the mid weight palate and developing with aeration but with no great complexity. After an hour more aromatics and more alluring - a red fruited, red floral, verging on meaty perfume. A recent Malconsorts I had from Sylvain Caithard exceeded this one. A very good but not a “wow” wine. One of those Burgundies which do not live up to expectations nor the price paid. — a year ago

Now this is my kind of Chardonnay! Light silvery/gold color. Aromas and flavors of pear, wet slate and green apple. Hints of dried herbs and roasted nuts. High level of minerals on the long finish. Crisp acidity and exceptional brightness. Lively and fresh. A pleasure to drink. Thanks for sharing, Chris B! — a month ago
