Ca' del Bosco

Cuvée Prestige 44 Edizione Franciacorta Chardonnay Blend

Very fine bubbles, slight minerality, a decent yeasty ferment flavor combined with pear. A golden sparkling wine that is quite nice but may not be for everyone — 2 years ago

Sine Qua Non

Entre Chien et Loup White Blend 2015

This is a very interesting Chardonnay based white blend from California.

Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Showing citrus, ripen apples, spices, melons, light tropical fruits, oak, sea salt, mangoes, honey, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Not for everyone, but if you are looking for a different kind of wine, try this.

Spicy, tangy and very rich. Showing great complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Thank you John for sharing this with me.

This 6 year old is very unique. Not my style necessarily, but interesting enough for me to enjoy it.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 44% Chardonnay, 40% Roussanne, 8% Viognier and 8% Petit Manseng. Aged for 19 months, mostly French oak barrels and some in concrete and stainless steel.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$200.

Voyager Estate

Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2008

Nose of blackberry and mulberry together with Margaret River herbaceousness. Charred oak notes as an accompaniment not dominating. Medium weight palate with a degree of elegance. Touch of astringency. Could have done with more mid palate fruit. Drink remaining 3 bottles in next few years. Definitely the most palatial cellar door and grounds in Margaret River and a must visit in a trip to the region. No expense spared. — 4 years ago

Château Angélus

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

2005 vintage. Decanted and open for 3.5 hours before tasting. Intense and spicy richness in the frontal palate/gums. Harmonious the rest of the journey. Very very close to opening the door to the hall of mirrors and entering the "zone" of optimal drinking. Still pretty youthful and no rush to crush. At least two decades of gorgeous enjoyment ahead. Even the greatest wines change themselves in the looking glass. 5.17.23. — a year ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1978

Birth year vintages are a roll of the dice but luckily I landed on a pretty solid classic - 1978. So for my birthday this year, we opened an LLC and wow was this perfect. The sommelier was surgical in removing the cork which split in half but he managed to extract it. The nose on this wine was a 10 - loads of cassis, licorice, dusty library and leather. Palate was extracted cassis, leather and great acidity and liveliness, just like my 44 year old self. It’s just pure magic when bottles this old perform - happy Friday everyone. — 3 years ago

Shaw and Smith

Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2018

Continuing on with the Shaw and Smith tasting from the Cellar Door. Raspberries and a confectionery note with silky tannins. Similar in style to the nearby Ashton Hills which I have often bought. The 2019 S and S Pinot was a sellout. — 4 years ago
