The 2000 Lynch-Bages is well defined on the nose with blackberry, cedar, humidor and crushed rose petals, one of the most elegant of this era. There is real pedigree here, obviously from a benevolent growing season. The palate is harmonious and framed by fine-boned tannins, the acidity well judged. It is not a powerful Lynch-Bages but has an appealing sense of symmetry and poise. Drinking beautifully now. Tasted blind at the Lynch-Bages vertical at the château. Light yellow in color with a golden hue.

Nice Riesling nose with diesel notes and citrus.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Showing citrus, ripped lemons, apples, spices, light diesel and light honey.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a tangy finish.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself.

13% alcohol by volume.

2008. Phinney-era Prisoner. Aged extremely well, which in this case means it maintained its big fruit up front while the tannins and booziness have disappeared. Our guests enjoyed the Barbaresco with dinner, but really liked the dark sweet fruits in this wine. — 2 years ago

While 05-16 may not be my favorite era of Leflaive (08 & 14 excluded), tonight 2013 is excellent, exceeding expectations and still markedly youthful. It’s rich, mineral and incisive with fantastic depth and layers, wafting waves of yellow orchard fruit, lilies, toasted sesame and lemon zest.
