Domaine François Raveneau

Chapelot Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 1989

This seems fresher than the 1989 Butteaux (plus, the entire cork, in 3 distinct pieces, came out of the bottle), color is light/medium gold, but fruit doesn’t show the depth of the 1989 Butteaux, both are still alive and solid (at 35 YEARS!?!?), but this Chapelot is fresher, while the Butteaux is fatter/richer, thus I’ll give each the same score! — 7 days ago

Poruzots Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Great producer & wine that is rich, racy on the palate with notes of citrus, pear, lots of mineral, saline, chalk & white flower — a month ago

Chablis Chardonnay 2009

So fresh under Diam. Most guessed that it was no more than 3 years old in our blind. Not the best Rav in my opinion. Obviously rich and ripe due to the vintage. I felt it could have used more relief. Thankfully it went remarkably well with some Comte. — a month ago

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 1989

Color is medium-dark golden, cork simply didn’t want to come out of the bottle, this smells like an old Raveneau, with sweet buttery fruit, still showing some minerality and good balancing acidity, medium-weight, riper vintage, solid finish, very good 1er Chablis! — 7 days ago

Valmur Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2004

Beautiful poise. Light and refined. Soft lemon. Rock pools, minerality, a hint of corn and yellow flowers. Intense but light and dancing on the palate. Great balance and long. Powerful but still subtle. — 16 days ago

Vaillons Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 1989

Lemon and flinty aromas and flavors, great acidity, great complexity and depth, even at 35 years old, as I always say, Raveneau is singular, super long, lingering finish, great Chablis 1er Cru!!!
I am down to my last 18 bottles of 1988-1990 Raveneau, but these are incredible wines bought on release at criminally inexpensive prices (compared to today), but Francois made INCREDIBLE Chablis!!!

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2016

Raveneau really nailed this vintage. A difficult growing season and minimal yields have nonetheless produced a stunning MDT, immensely generous, expressive and multidimensional wafting a floral, citrusy-spice inflicted bouquet layered in pastry cream and stony Chablisen minerality. The palate is magnificently textured, concentrated, long and voluptuous, slightly lower in acidity as 16’s can be, but still with plenty of power, tension and balance that belies the vintage norm. MDT is a tremendous success in 2016. Raveneau is king. 💛 — 14 days ago

Les Tuffeaux Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc 2020

Demi-sec. Pineapple, honey, lemon rind. Not what I usually look for in Chenin, but this is undeniably a good wine. Elegant, full, and with a finish that just won’t quit. — 2 months ago
