Spicy and peppery, even a bit smoky, with rich dark red cherry and baked blueberry flavors — a year ago
Love the flavour. Could do with couple more years to develop just a slightly smoother finish on palette. — 3 years ago
This CdP tribute (55% Mataro, 40% Shiraz, 5% Grenache) to Pope Clement V is simply lovely, rich, youthful darkfruits and a solid structure that suggests 5-7 years of cellaring is in order, medium-long, lingering finish, very fine GSM blend!!
As an aside, we were lucky enough to make it to singlefile Wines this afternoon and taste the full range being poured, the 2022 Family Reserve Chardonnay (the wine they’re known for) was outstanding, as was their 2022 Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon, and pricing was VERY reasonable — only problem is that don’t export to the U.S. — Oh well. . . . — 7 months ago
Initial impressions were mint, capsicum and herbs. Savoury winning out over fruit. More red currant rather than black currant Barb thought. Expected a little more mid palate fruit which is one of the reasons that Margaret River Cabernet is more complete than the cooler climate Frankland River (south east of Margaret River) where this is the product of a single vineyard. Don’t get me wrong this is still a wonderful Cabernet which honours the amazing contribution of Jack Mann who made wine for Houghtons for 51 consecutive vintages. — 3 years ago
Nice red, cheap — 3 years ago
Outstanding. The bottle is far too small!! — 2 years ago
Really liked this one. All the things you’d want from a Cabernet from the region mix of berry and mint and currant flavours on the palate but the nose offers more. Really enjoyable and fabulous value. — 3 years ago

Medium-ripe apple and pear aromas nicely framed by some oak, great balance, great depth, really a beautiful Aussie Chardonnay from the Franklin River subregion of the Great Southern. — 7 months ago
