Extreme value.
BF that knows wine: There are wines that you’d only date and there are wines you’d want a relationship with and this is a relationship wine.
Not too fussy, very consistent, medium bodied but with some spice. Financial goals are aligned. Not a trophy wife wine - but someone you’d be proud to introduce to your friends .
Me: 👀 idk what that’s description is about bc I’m in this relationship and those characteristics don’t describe me. But my thoughts: I’d buy again and it pairs well with White Lotus. I’m going to bring it to my “2023 intention setting dinner” with a group of girlfriends. Will update if it pairs well with intentions. — 2 years ago
Let's go out with a bang!
Byeee 2023!
Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.
Strong fruity nose, bold and fruit forward.
Full bodied and dry on the palate, with medium acidity.
Showing blueberries, blackberries, black currants, black cherries, raisins, dried fruits, figs, dark chocolates, cedar, coffee, vanilla, earth, spices, pencil lead, eucalyptus, cola, light mint, bell pepper, herbs and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a gorgeous Napa Valley Bordeaux blend. Very fruity on the palate with great complexity and mouthfeel.
This 14 year old feels and drinks like a young wine. Rich and extracted. Opulent and very complex already.
Fruit forward with lots of earth and green notes. Very interesting stuff. Feels like a blend of Napa Cabernet and Left Bank bordeaux.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of air time, when tannins come in and show more structure. After 2 hours of airtime the tannins become very grippy.
I tried the 2001 vintage a few years ago, and it was so much better. A good quality wine that will continue to age nicely in the next 20+ years.
Robert Parker 97 points. Wine Spectator 96 points.
A great wine to share with friends and talk about.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

Kept in the cellar for a while and well worth the wait. Beautiful nose full of dark blue fruits and earth tones. Big wine with complex structure and finish for days. Great bottle of wine to share with friends for the season premier of Yellowstone!! — 2 years ago
Rich and opulent. This 100pt behemoth showed off its true colors. While young it exuded everything one could hope for from this famed estate. Deep black fruit with smooth tannin structure. Cassis and pencil shavings with hints of coco. Smooth as a babies bottom. Long lingering finish. More please — 3 years ago
Really original wine, reminds me of the first time I tasted The Prisoner years and years ago, the original Zinfandel version that is. This is a Petit Syrah, Merlot, Cab blend with concentrated flavors and deep complexity… Need time to open and achieve balance. Cheers. — 9 months ago

This 49 years old LLC was in the first sniff a bit dull, but then miraculously this grand master of BDX stood up and showed its pure class. Ok it’s not a young bastard but what a pleasure to drink with friends. — 8 months ago
