The 2019 Malbec Aggie from Gualtallary, Uco Valley was aged in French barrels for up to 12 months. A vivid purple color, the nose presents herbs and red fruit such as thyme, black tea, potpourri and fresh plum followed by a layer of aromas from the aging process. Broad on the palate with fine tannins and a fruity flavor, it has an attractive liqueur-like quality that keeps things frisky while the finish is full of juice and fruit. Quaranwine if the day. Looks like I may have been exposed so expect ever so many quaranwines. Ps I feel great but I am doing my part and chilling indoors next two weeks. If I don’t die from lack of hugs, I shall live to drink more more more Burgundy. Especially the sometimes overlooked Cote Chalonnaise. This is ever so exuberant. It just leaps out of the glass at you. Or maybe I’m projecting how I’m gonna be in a coupe weeks. Anyway. Ripe frisky fruits, spice, sass, with this one odd footnote that says raspberry vinegar and herbs. Keeping us thoroughly en France. — 5 years ago
2020 vintage. Holy bleep! Tasted approx 5 months ago and was great bang for the buck but even more evident now. Super red Burg value! Smoky, savory and medium-heavy bodied. Big frontal fruit punch that consistently rolls through to the back door with enough acidity for balance. Fun, frisky and ‘fordable which doesn’t happen very often in the (red) Burgundian realm. Last tasted approx a month ago but drinking even better now. Would honestly be afraid of proffering this up to a red Burgundy “virgin” because it would completely destroy all current and future QPR expectations from the entire region for them forever. For y’all old fart, red Burg honks-enjoy. 3.8.23. — 2 years ago

Kind of buttery and rich.
From P&V:
Oh yes, oh yes. An homage to the big reds of Spain, Yoko and Andries' El Rojo is an outstanding blend of tempranillo, grenache and shiraz. Outrageously spicy and deep - think smoked paprika, cayenne, with dirty, gritty, earthy undertones and tones leather and plum. Incredibly full-flavoured and rich, yet still palatable, frisky and drinkable. Muy, muy bien. — 5 years ago
Would you just look at that crimson colour! So inviting; I almost wanted to wrap a Christmas present in that as I sat down by the fire awaiting old St. Nick. Of course, it’s July, so it’s more of a nostalgic thing. I decanted for a full hour prior to the first taste, but this was still tight and needed more time. Being a Ladoix, I was worried it would still present as too young; too powerful. I wasn’t wrong and this will continue to evolve for many more years. That said, I do think it has passed its first phase of evolution and, with time, it showed. Medium tannin. Medium alcohol. Nose dominated by cranberry, violets, garden soil and rhubarb. Solid, if not fantastic length. Perhaps lacking the most refined concentration but it’s not without focus. This is definitely a little more primal than the top tier of burgundy but it’s also half (or less) of the typical price tag. If you were in a mellow burgundy mood but also felt like you might get a little frisky, this is your wine. — 5 years ago

Still a year or two too young for optimal drinking. Some frisky wood notes are still there.

Palate: early season cherries. More plum as it opens. Some spice. — 3 months ago
