Le Cul de Beaujeu Sancerre Pinot Noir 2015

Bright and a bit feral. long finish. Fresh as a daisy. Could be a modest 1er Burg. Excellent with poulet roti and frites. K&L just dropped this quietly on their website (presumably winery direct) for $20. Crazy. — 3 days ago

There is too much wine in the world. Going through the wine stores recently i have the impression some are not doing that well. And there were a couple which closed.

@Pinotman /// Andreas - Certainly too much mediocre wine. And that’s what most wine retailers sell the most of. There was a recent article in Decanter about the glut of bulk wine. But as to the really good stuff, I think it may be a more nuanced issue. If I lived near a store as good as K&L, I’d be popping in a lot!

Louis Jadot negociant, I guess for WineBid? Pretty average Burgundy, decent fruit but overly acidic/sparkly early, wooden late, and turned sour after being open awhile — 4 years ago

Clos de Beaujeu Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Intense but way softer and fruitier than expected, likely due to vintage conditions. Intensely mineral on the nose but vying for primacy with copious amount of deep orchard fruit (greengage?). Rich and intense in the mouth. Lowish acids. Very very good but seemingly atypical (or maybe this is global warming typical). — 7 months ago

Very powerful and deep. Brooding notes of dark plum. Some oak, spice and blood. Great stuff but very hard to unpack right now. — 7 months ago
