Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Deep purple with a hint of brick. Cassis and leather and meat in the nose. Pencil graphite cassis violet and a little tar. Rich jammy black fruit. Delicious. Serving with Prime grade rib roast. Sorry to have only one bottle — 3 years ago

Oakville Grade Red Wine 2015

An oddly-named bottling. “Oakville Grade”? I suppose majority of the juicy from Oakville, but I could not find much information on this 15’ blend.
Gentle nose of red cherry, blueberry, black currant, creme de cassis, fresh herbs, and vanilla. The medium to full body feels weightless at times. Full of fresh sweet (a bit too sweet for me) cherries flavor. Silky, plush, almost feminine. Finely grained sweet tannins.
From magnum. This is still very primary, and will have a long life ahead.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Aroma includes ink, Black currant, tabacco,
30 min, concentrated. Oak and complexity. No. Actual concentration came 90 min. Feel powerful. Fruity blue and black berry. 120 min texture is also getting better.
Mid +. Elegant and powerful one
It takes time, at least one hour, two or more to decant it even in 2006 @3100, xiaduo - , 210928-211015

Ink Grade Estate

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

I convinced a friend to attend a pop and pour tasting for Heitz Cellar last night. The lineup included:

* 2017 Lot C-91 - Previously made once in 1961.
* 2016 Trailside Vineyard -
* 2016 Martha’s Vineyard -
* 2017 Howell Mountain Ink Grade

I love producers that have not strayed from what I call that “classic Napa style,” and I also love mountain fruit. The Heitz Trailside and Martha’s were both really nice (Martha gets an extra star from me), Ink Grade was next level.

Ink Grade is hugely massive, complex, powerful, and fresh, all at the same time. This wine easily falls in my top 3 favorite discoveries in 2022.

Details: 100% Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvest Date September 6, 2017. 100% French Oak. Bottled on March 8, 2021. ABV 14%.

This wine deserves a fabulous pairing. Our loss that the Jimmy Hendrix/Miles Davis collaboration never happened, but if it had I would be listening to them with this bottle.
