Aged for 14 months in 50% new French oak, aromas of stone and citrus fruits with notes of smoke and fresh oven biscuits. On the palate flavors of ripe apple and pear, lime citrus with notes of smoke and cedar, well integrated, balanced acidity, long rich finish, ending with fruit and delicate yeasty notes. Very nice. Very Champagne like! Pinot Noir Blend from Burgundy! Light golden color, fine bubbles with a light creamy mousse and aromas of fresh fruit with floral scents. On the palate red berry and cherry flavors with nice underlying sweetness. Dryer than most Cremants I tasted. Long finish with lively acidity, good balance ending with fruit and slight yeast tang. Excellent value as a Champagne alternative. — 7 months ago

Chasing my chaotic self-administered pandemic hair chopping with a Gewurtz from Arroyo Seco which seems to me apropos as I imagine the region as wind-swept and tousled. This wine is not so much and that is a good thing. All is in harmony. There is just the right amount of everything and it hits you in order—the lychees are followed by a green lawn leading to the flower garden full of roses and gardenias all spirited along by a nice amount of acid and powered by a prickling tannin. I’m not normally the biggest Gewurtz fan but I’d reach for this a second time. I’d maybe even pair it with a “hard to pair” thing like artichoke. Something about the floral nature of both I think could line up. Is that crazy? Maybe. But this is coming from someone who just used her kitchen scissors to give herself an intentionally asymmetrical haircut. — 4 years ago

I got this magnum from Last Bubbles being sold on the rather regal description of the wine makers and the various plats from which they choose their blends. This was likely one of the best glasses of champagne I’ve ever had! The bright citrus followed by a nutty character backed by a sublime measure of acidity create a brilliant example of what champagne can be! — 7 months ago
