Tony and his wife Herta purchased 30 acres of land in the Napa Valley with the magic ingredient - location. With a splash of Malbec added, aromas of dark berry fruit and cigar box spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and raspberry with cacao, licorice and herb notes. Fine tannins, nice acidity, good balance on long finish ending with fruit and cedar notes. Classic Pegau style, a nod to tradition with WC ferm but some pushing from an extraction standpoint. Deep, dark, savory and operating on a lower wavelength. Not an aromatic expression of CNdP, but wholesome and shows its character in its riches on the palate. Muddled red and black fruits, from berry/plum to fig/prune, leather, tar, roasted espresso, garrigue, hot stones and iron, rich in brett but working well the wine. This was a night 2 wine, it needs some obviously time to let its layers unfold. 2016s have a certain edge and lift to them for me, this almost aligned more with the ‘15 vintage given its tenacity and strength — 6 years ago

3018 vintage in 2021. Recommended by the wait staff in our Athens hotel. 60€. Sour cherry taste with a hint of spice. Very enjoyable while watching the sunset over the Parthenon. — 5 years ago

A superb Chardonnay! Aromas of Anise and Honeysuckle. Apple and Honey on the bud. Crisp and smooth with a long finish. Great with our Salmon tonight. Need to order more from Evening Springs as we were extremely impressed with their wines when we visited earlier this year. — 7 months ago

Founded at end of 1800 when Lavinio Franceschi, Florence land owner, visited the area. Over a century later, Tenuta covers an area of 530 hectares (140 planted with vines; 50 with olive trees). Aged in French oak for 36 months, 100% Sangiovese hand picked from 20-year old vines. A Gem! Deep Ruby. rich berry fruit aromas with complex spice. It’s a bit unusual in the land of Syrah. But this estate is home to a little patch of old vine Gamay which does very nice things in the bottle. The wine has the bright, vibrant red fruits typical of the Gamay grape. But on the finish, there’s a kick of black pepper more typical of the Rhone Valley. It makes for an appealing combination. It’s complex, a little geeky, and highly drinkable – a mix that we find pretty irresistible.
