Le Vin De François

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

The 2010 Montée de Tonnerre pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, this is an absolute powerhouse; sizzling with energy, tropical and orchard fruit: passionfruit, tangerine, green apple, crushed seashell, lemon curd and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and full of minerals. A supercharger of a Chablis. Tonight, this was truly sensational and an experience I won’t soon forget. Drink now through 2040. — 8 days ago

Such a blast! Thanks, @Paul K. So cool to taste a common thread through these three different Leovilles.

Domaine François Raveneau

Blanchot Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2003

The 2003 Blanchot pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, this is developing and all about the minerals with crushed seashell and chalk taking the lead over some verbana and a creamy lemon leesy thing. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory, leesy and mineral laden. A special wine that needs air to really come alive. Drink now with patience and through 2033. — 8 days ago

Vin de Pays de l'Hérault White Rhone Blend 2020

Beautiful black fruit, spice, garigue and tar. Will improve over the next 5 to 10 years but very sexy juice right now. Magnum bottle. — 2 days ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

Bought on release, $89.95, it’s gorgeous—but so tight at 21 years of age—surprisingly so. Fruit takes a back seat to acidity and structure as well as chalk and minerality. I really like this wine and it will live decades but tonight I’m happily sacrificing a little tooth enamel. — a month ago
