This is very similar to Les Jardins Philosophiques from the sister property Bouscasse, with a bit more nutty lightly oxidative notes that almost points you to Jura Blanc. Textured body contrasts the crisp acidity nicely.
Usually a blend of Petit Courbu and Petit Manseng, but the back label shows 100% Petit Courbu for 2015. This will cruise for another 5-8 years. — 2 years ago
Just delicious, dark fruit, a little green in the best way, long soft tannins — 3 years ago
Placed 3rd in a small St Emilion taste off. Raspberry blueberry cherry vanilla. Improved over time from opening. — 6 years ago
just got back from Bordeaux and the Périgord. I brought some treats from the area to share with friends and just grabbed this wine out of my cellar. This wine was drinking great, very full bodied with dark cherry, plum, and cassis. Also, a bit tobacco, cedar, licorice and leather all around. Everyone commented how great this was drinking. Got to find some more. — a month ago
Zippy— fresh, bright and airy! — 8 months ago
Bought the bottle at the winery in France. Raspberry and dark fruit bouquet. Delicate up front. Soft earthy taste in the middle. Leather and vanilla(?) on the back. Medium earthy finish. Perfect with Chicago deep dish pizza! Definitely not a fruit bomb from California! — 2 years ago
1989 vintage. A rather obscure Cru Classé that was owned at the time by the Jabiol family. In 2009 it was sold to a French insurance group who sadly incorporated Cadet Piola into Soutard. Last vintage of Cadet-Piola produced was 2011. Typical of this estate was the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyards ( 28%). Considering the quality of this beautiful 34 years old Saint-Emilion and the original label ( drawn by a previous owner), it is a pity to see it disappear, but apparently, it lost its classification in 2012, which is probably the explanation. Anyway, this is a delicious wine that shows no signs of fatigue with a deep red colour, an attractive cedary, black fruit nose that could be mistaken for left bank. In the mouth, it still shows good, ripe fruit, with an impeccable balance and a long , cedary finish. Abv. 13%. Well worth seeking out. — 3 years ago
2020 vintage. The last vintage for this wine as it was bought from the Bécot family ( owners of Beauséjour-Bécot) by the owners of Haut-Brion in 2021. It will be incorporated into Château Quintus (which is a merger of 3 estates: Tertre-Daugay, L'Arrosée and Grand-Pontet). Many Saint-Emilion estates disappeared, incorporated into other estates, some very good wines sadly disappeared like Curé Bon La Madeleine (now into Canon), Cadet-Piola (now into Soutard) and so on. The fact that Grand Cru Classés can legally be incorporated into Premier Grands Crus Classés tells you that you have to take the classification with more than a grain of salt. A bit shy on the nose, even after a few hours. Medium-bodied, nice value for a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. — 3 years ago
Full bodied, rich, flavors of peach, wet rock and a reductive notes of match stick. — 6 years ago
The nose brims with orchard and tropical fruit layered with honeysuckle and fresh herbs. On the palate, the acidity remains crisp and lively, yet there’s a gentle creaminess that rounds the edges with quiet sophistication.
At year 8, this 70/30 Petit Courbu/Petit Manseng blend remains a thoughtful meditation in the glass fitting to its name.

2018 vintage. A more flashy, extracted style compared to stable mates Villemaurine and Sansonnet, but very well done. — 2 years ago
Hard to believe it’s the same grape that goes toward some of the most boring white wines available. This is wild; pretty peach color from a little skin contact, slight oxidative notes which add to the complexity without tiring the wine out, very lively, intense and fairly long finish, most of the fruit is around apricots. Lovely — 2 years ago
Slightly jammy with a rich dark berry finish. Slight earthy, cold stone-like background . Very good!! — 6 years ago
