Vintage 2008 | Restaurant Hohenzollern in Bad Neuenahr lies beautiful on a vineyard mountain overlooking the village; it does have a enchanting wine list with 22 pages covering Germany, but also 16 pages rest of the world. There are ripened wines from many regions. A 16 y old Zind Humbrecht Riesling is an opportunity not to miss. Gold coloured, fine smell with some almonds, a lot of minerals and enormous amount of butter and butterscotch. Wel balanced wine with tension. Paired with sea bass and curry shrimps. — 3 months ago
Gorgeous Gewurz nose of lychee, musky florals, and some clean mountain stream stones. Drier styled in the mouth. Upfront fruit and minerality, a little countering bitter component on the finish. Just about pitch perfect. — 8 days ago
Dried apricot, dried mango, pineapple candy, marmalade, thyme, honeysuckle, banana cream, *marigold*, leafy dried desiccated apricot, orange zest and peel, minerality! Saffron, botrytis notes, Indian spices. Off dry ~25 g/L RS. — 2 months ago
Deep gold in color. Apricot cobbler, ginger, ripe peach, and petrol on the nose. The palate presents apricot liquor, flint, orange liqueur, white pepper, ginger, cinnamon, clove, dried stone fruit, and lemon. Medium bodied, medium alcohol, medium acid, and a long complex finish. This wine is at its prime at 13 years old. A fascinating wine. — 2 months ago
Consumed over several hours and this was all about “a point in time”. The rotation of red and green flavors reminded me of a roulette wheel. Olives and red fruits played a game of hide and seek, occasionally teaming up with tobacco and darker fruits. Intense yet so seductive. Would have liked a longer finish. A wine that I can see being very polarizing due to the assertiveness of its many components.. — 2 months ago
Preserved lemon and stone fruits. Lovely bouquet. Perfect balance — 2 months ago

It is very pure—red raspberry, red cherry, and licorice, amped up with damp soil on the nose. The palate brings more licorice/anise/tarragon vibes, with a little lilac winking on the finish. The acid is vibrant, the tannins are dusky, and the alcohol is respectful. — 17 days ago
