An Orange wine called Orso from Corsica. Orso means bear, a traditional first name used in Corsica for boys.
The wine is fresh and bitter but it's surprisingly a pleasant bitterness. It's not a wine for everybody, and not for every occasion. Today, this bitterness was a turning point...as life is not always a sweet fairytale.

This is one of my top favorite wines. It’s almost like drinking grape juice. Sweet and goes down sooo easy. — 5 years ago
Big jammy freakshow paired with Marcella bolognese — 6 years ago
Wanted to drink more Sangiovese, and here I am. Doesn’t scream Sangiovese but there is some nice ripe cherry fruit and savory herbs as expected on the nose. Pretty substantial Brett aromas are present and some slightly astringent VA appears but oddly enough only after 40-60 minutes of decanting. Palate is clean and fruit-driven. Acid and tannins are both relatively soft, and the finish is clean but short. Despite the prominence of its “flaws” this was quite enjoyable with Marcella Hazan’s super simple red sauce. On its own, less compelling. Day 2-3: revising my rating upwards. Aggressive VA has dissipated and the length is somehow extended, acid-driven. The bretty nose is fun and engaging. A big hit! — 8 years ago
Had it with Marcella hazans bolognese. Fruit forward, easy drinking. — 9 years ago
A relaxed meal before Thanksgiving kicks off in earnest. Marcella hazan’s simple tomato sauce with butter and onions over some good tagliatelle, some broccoli raab, and sausage. Perfect pairing. Gave it a 1.5 hour decant which was the right call. Definitely a bit of “rustic” tannins but the fruit is quite open and giving and the finish is pure with good acid. At $27, quite a good value. — 7 months ago
Really a mind expanding wine. Would never have guessed Aglianico or 2008 or 15%. Quite herby and earthy but with some core of fruit too - long finish with good acid. Lovely mouthfeel as well. And a great pairing with Marcella Hazan’s long cooked bolognese. — 3 years ago
Eye opening Cesanese from 2016. Full bodied with burnished plum notes and silky tannins. — 5 years ago
Nice wine but not quite all together at this point. Decanted for 4 hours. But too much sweet oak for my taste. With Marcella Hazan’s bolognese it’s a nice pairing. Deep fruited and the merlot certainly comes through. Good acid, tannins still very there. With even more air probably gets to 9.0. But overall still a bit skeptical of super Tuscans in general. — 6 years ago

Almost opaque, light brickish scarlet. Smokey, dried savory cherry notes…. Gorgeous balance between acid and fruit. Hard to keep from crushing the entire glass. The finish goes on for 90 seconds and makes me smile. Marcella Hazan’s Bolognese is near perfection and works so well with the mountain-grown Nebbiolo. — 2 years ago
Nice entry level wine from the fine folks at Montevertine. Great pairing with a marcella hazan inspired pork chops with mushrooms, tomatoes, and a bit of cream. Not quite integrated and seamless at this point, but a great pickup for $36 on Black Friday. Decanted 2 hours, improved with time. — 3 years ago
Not a Lambrusco but performs as one- especially if you go room temperature & let the earthiness & more bitter notes come through. Has sweetness in balance. Went beautifully with orzo, pork/beef meatballs with Marcella Hazan recipe tomato sauce. Rosenthal importer — 6 years ago

First, let me say that the @plcb has NO idea what they’re doing re clearance sales. Maybe, no definitely, the greatest $21.99 bottle of wine I’ve ever come across. I only wish now, that there were more than six to buy.
Cedar, Cocoa, Dark Cherries, Forest Floor, on the nose, apparent upon opening and pouring a bit in a glass, from 2 ft. away. As it opened, and w Sunday gravy( thanks Marcella), those repeat plus purrr-fect cheek and lower lip acidity & tannins. Med. body, decently long finish( tough to distinguish, fore you’re into the next sip already)Mahogany colored, gorgeous.
I’m hoping for more insane clearance sales! I know this 1st bottle won’t last into tomorrow to see how it does overnight. The next one will have to do.
