Absolutely delicious pinot. Black cherry, marionberry, plum, and anise. — 4 years ago
Marionberry and lite black pepper. Delicious! — 6 years ago
La Combe Verte Vineyard. Herbal and Marionberry notes in the nose with a hint of butter. A panorama of berry flavors - blue, black, rasp - in the mouth. Soft, good acid but needs some time to open. Hint of black licorice on the finish. After an hour, a fine grind of seed tannins emerges while fruit flavors integrate and acid softens. Nice fluid mouthfeel too. More time needed? After three hours, hints of lavender and black currant emerge. Overall, a wine of subtlety with some remaining aging potential. — 2 years ago
I challenge you to find a better, more complete Pinot for $25 or less. It takes a moment or two, but this wine comes together nicely. High-toned, red fruit driven (sour cherry, red currant, red plum, cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry) with a touch of oak (vanilla, cinnamon, cloves) as well as some darker berries (huckleberry/marionberry), star anise, orange zest, rose petal, mushroom and red earth (maybe it’s the power of suggestion, but I can taste the volcanic Jory soils in here🤷🏻♀️). It’s unusual to find fruit this tart and fresh with the recent warmer vintages in the W valley, so this was a pleasant surprise. Subtle and satisfying. — 5 years ago

You’re challenging a lot people🤷🏼♂️,
Talk about an easy drinking wine that goes with everything! Can also be layed down for a number of years to allow for some additional complexity to shine through. Notes of marionberry, baking spices and carmelized sugar. Never disappoints. — 6 years ago
Drinking great. The dollops Carignan, Alicante Bouchet, and Petite Syrah really work well here, adding color, flesh, and extra dimension from a tannin and length perspective. The wine is wholesome, inviting with its lush black and marionberry pie aromas, there’s an ample dose of smoke and licorice there too. Its very alluring but the palate really shows the balance, yes deeply fruited with a sort of toasty pie crust element, but the focused acidity and tannic grip really hone it all in. It departs spiced and mineral if you will. — 7 years ago
Splash decanted and then poured back into the bottle about 5 hours prior to dinner. This is my first impression of the 2021 Zinfandel which is even more exciting than usual because the 2020 vintage was skipped due to the LNU Lightning Complex fires which rendered that crop a write-off. The wine pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core moving towards a magenta edge and a slightly watery rim. Medium+ viscosity and moderate staining of the tears. There seems to be some sediment already, however this is not uncommon with bottles of Rafanelli both young and old. On the nose, the wine is clean although I do detect some VA, well within the “charming” range. Very expressive fresh red and black fruits, primarily brambles: Marionberry, ripe blackberry fruit, and raspberries. These are accompanied by white pepper and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. Alcohol is medium+ but not out of balance. Finish is medium. As usual, these wines upon release tend to be super primary but I like what I’m experiencing! Personally, I would recommend some patience when drinking these young. While they are no-doubt good, they tend to fill out with some time on their side in the cellar. Best after 2024 and should drink well through 2035. Oh…and this was an awesome pairing with grilled rack of lamb. — 3 years ago
2016. Not sure it a reserve. Just a Murto. Amazing. Such a contrast from the 2018 Belle Pente WV I had a couple of nights ago. This embodies virtually everything I live about warm weather Oregon Pinot. Very fruit forward. Almost no tannin. Fair complexity - strawberry, marionberry. A bit of brininess on the finish. — 6 years ago

Strong red blend and gentle tannins for not a lot of age, and for WA state for that matter. Was busy discussing business while drinking this so copying web tasting notes: “blackberry, marionberry, cassis, dried herbs, olive tapenade, cedar, vanilla, and coffee.” — 2 months ago
