Marius Michaud

Domaine Marius Delarche

Les Vergelesses Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Light, floral, and tight with a little, no perfume. I don’t want to call it thin, but it was lacking a bit in intensity. Solid green florist and herbal notes, tight concentrated fruit. — 19 days ago

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2027

Infanticide but still a nice cotton Charlemagne. Delarche is one of the true affordable grand crus, never outstanding, never a disappointment. 2021 will be very good — 9 months ago

Excellent village from Marius Delarche. Fruity mores still there. Secondaire notes upcoming. Perfect timing for me — 2 years ago

Symphony McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

Smooth, full bodied but elegant, mix of red and black fruit, baking spices, a little cola aroma, tannins fine and playing a background role. — 3 years ago

Rene Rostaing

Côte Blonde Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2004

This was a real treat after the Gentaz-Dervieux since Rene Rostaing is Marius Gentaz’s son-in-law. While the vineyards that belonged to Marius are now famously part of the Rostaing domaine, that vineyard goes to Rene’s Côte Brune; this is his Côte Blonde and arguably his most famous bottling. This 2004 pours a cloudy ruby with brambles, purple flowers, blood, dust and leather. Slightly rustic which is what I want from Rostaing. I love the individuality and how it paired with the Iberico pork cheek, mushroom ragu with lavender and thyme. Plenty of life left. Drink through 2034+. — 9 months ago

M. Chapoutier

Monier de La Sizeranne Hermitage Viognier Blend 2016

History of Chapoutier family dates back to the early 19th century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased estate & famous l’Hermitage vineyards. Medium Ruby with aromas of rich red/black fruits and spice, 16 months in 25% new French oak. On the palate raspberry, cherry & black currant flavors with notes of oak. Soft dusty tannins, well balanced ending with fruit, spice and cedar. Very nice! I wouldn’t age long, great now! — 2 years ago
